After a very long bus ride, the screeching sound of the breaks woke Jackie up. As she wiped the drool off her face, she looked outside to see a very sunny and bright town ahead of her. Woah, very different from the doom and gloom of Detroit. Jackie rose from her seat and hopped off the bus. She clutched her guitar case and approached the half hanging San Francisco map. Unsure of where to go and it being about lunch time, Jackie assumed asking someone at the station where to get some decent grub would be a good idea.
She walked into the station to find one attendant behind the counter. "Hey, I was wondering where a good place to eat around her would be." The attendant shrugged and went back to the book they were reading. "Didn't think it was that hard of a question, but thanks so much for the help. Real nice customer service you got here." Jackie stomped off and walked out the front door. On her way out, Jackie grabbed a city map and stuffed it in her jacket pocket. Coffee would be a good idea ... or even better, whiskey.
Jackie's idea of a good meal was greasy bar food and a rocks glass filled with ice and some Jack. Trying not to look too touristy, she left the map in her pocket and started to saunter down the street. The city streets looked pretty much the same, except for the trollies. Jackie heard constant dinging noises from the old fashioned public transportation. Before she got a headache, she scurried into the nearest bar. She didn't catch the name before walking in but the outside looked like any normal dive bar.
Being close to the water, the whole bar was nautical themed. Not Jackie's cup of tea, or booze. She plopped down at a table and waited for the server to stroll over for her order. Once the young waitress came over with a pleasant smile, Jackie thought to herself Okay, maybe the attendant at the bus station, was a fluke. Maybe, they all aren't assholes. She smiled back and engaged in conversation. "Hey, so I'm brand new in town. Never been here before. Not even from this side of the states. What kind of food ya got?"

Figured the asshole would have ran to a state where vampires weren't exactly welcomed. This didn't deterred him though and put his enhanced tracking abilities to use. He was going to merely let the guy off by taking his memory, but the fact that he had to cross states now only infuriated him and he was just going to kill the guy once he got his hands on him.
He cross the California state line on his bike, he knew that the perp was heading to San Francisco. He was after this guy on a bad incident that happen in Canada. He didn't need any orders from the council member. He was going after this guy himself. It didn't take nearly as long to get to the city, it was day time to but luckily he had drank some of the special blood that was given, allowing him to go out in sunlight.
He past a bar and parked his park out front. He dusted the leather jacket off from the dust of the dessert he went through before heading inside. It was semi busy, but nothing to bad. He sat down at a empty table, looking up to see a pluse sitting at another table behind him. He was facing her though and looked to the waitress now who asked what he wanted. "Jack Daniels." He said, the waitress gave him a odd look before writing down his order and went behind the bar. He kept his glasses on before looking around but didnt see any sign that the pluse he'd been tracking had been here but doesnt hurt to ask around.
Can never go wrong with a cheeseburger. He said.

Jackie looked across her table to the man who responded to her talking to the server. "Can never go wrong with a cheeseburger." He seemed to be a tough guy wearing a leather jacket with scruffy hair. She always liked the bad boy look, it's what she was used to back at home. Jackie assumed the bike sitting outside was his. She looked back to the waitress and requested, "Sure, I'll take a cheeseburger." She looked back to the man and gave a little half smirk. "But can I have it medium rare and with Jack Daniels on the rocks. Thanks." The server nodded and bounced away. She must be young, with so much pep in her step. Jackie shook her head slightly.
She traced her finger around the table and watched it, not too sure what to say next to man. He was nice enough to talk to me, but not too sure what to make of it yet. Keep your distance, for now. But you don't have to ignore the man. Jackie gave herself a little pep talk and looked up again at the man. "So. ... have you had a cheeseburger from here before? Not that it's very easy to mess up a cheeseburger." Jackie rolled her eyes as a sign of her shitty conversation skill. At least I strayed from, come here often. Then gave the man another subtle up and down look. He looks like someone I don't want to fuck with, rough around the edges. But it's a good thing I'm superhuman or whatever.
The server dropped off Jackie's drink. She picked up the glass and swirled it around in her hand for a bit. Her eyes looked from the glass to the man and she tilted the glass to him, as a sign of cheers. The addicting smell of the whiskey floated up her nostrils as she took a sip from the glass. "You a fan of JD also, huh?"

The girl was a pluse herself, but she wasn't the one that he was looking for. He wondered if pluses ever stick together, it was somewhat stupid idea because not even vampires stick together in that way. He watched her through his sunglasses, only looking to the waitress with his drink. It took alot to even get him a buzz, guess that was a bad thing about immortality but he loved the taste and it did make him feel alittle bit more happier without the drunken side effect.
It must have looked alittle odd to the other patrons in the restaurant type bar setting to see two people already drinking alcohol this early in the day, it wasn't even close to night time yet. He cocked an eyebrow at her ordering a Jack Daniels. A Jack Daniels girl, nice. He didn't met to many people who had a good taste in whiskey. He just smirked some at her shitty conversation starter, this girl was more like him than he thought she would be.
Nope, but can no go wrong with ordering one. He replied with coy smirk and drowned his shot and ordered another one.
He tilt his empty glass back to be polite when the waitress came back and refilled his drink. Yeah, one of the best drinks there is, nice to meet a girl who isn't drinking those pussy fruity drinks. He said, taking out a pack of cigarettes and lite one up. He took his sunglasses off, folding the legs and placed it into the front pocket of his jacket before taking that off as well. He wore a sleeveless plaid shirt underneath and lightly dusted his toned arms off before he felt comfortable again. Want one? He asked, motioning towards the pack in his hand.

"Yeah, one of the best drinks there is, nice to meet a girl who isn't drinking those pussy fruity drinks." Jackie smiled in response to his compliment. "Well to be honest, having 3 brothers growing up doesn't allow a girl to be very girly.... and it is pretty damn good." She said as she took another sip of her drink. Her tongue played with the whiskey in her mouth for a bit before she swallowed the cool liquid. He revealed his pretty blue eyes after putting away his sunglasses and peeling off his leather jacket. Jackie internally raised her eyebrows. Def not bad to look at.
He offers Jackie a cigarette. She looks at it for a brief moment. "I could never afford to smoke because I claimed that I only would smoke when I drank, which happened too often. But if you're offering, then sure. Why the hell not." Jackie took out her trusty lighter from her front jeans pocket and flickered the zeppo. Before the gentleman could light his own, she lit his cigarette, closed the lighter with her hand and slid it back into her pocket. After a long inhale, Jackie exhaled above the two of them. She knew even though he was smoking also it would be rude to blow it in his face. "I'm surprised that we can even smoke in here. Detroit doesn't allow for that to happen, so we all have to freeze our asses off outside."
She flicked her cigarette into the ashtray. "I'm Jackie, by the way. Most people call me Jax for short. Do whatever you want with that info." She smiled as she shrugged and swished the glass around with cigarette in hand. After she placed the cigarette down on the ashtray, Jackie took off her jacket and placed it on the empty stool between the two of them. Ugh, I always seem to get warm when I'm drinking. She finishes her drink and walks it over to the bar for another one. She picks up his next shot and drops it off in front of the gentleman. "So what's your story?"

He only nodded at what she said. He never had any siblings but always wondered what it would be like to have a brother or sister. I'm guessing that they toughen you up. He said. She looked like one of those girls that wouldn't take shit from anybody and she looked like somebody he could get along with. He cocked his eyebrow at her liting his cigarette but smiled in thanks and handed her one of his from his pack.
He inhaled, exhaling through his nose as he waited for his drink. Guess their health conscious in Detroit. He said in a somewhat teasing tone as he flicked the ashes off the end of his cigarette into the empty shot glass.
Names Everett, if I had friends they would just call me Ev for short. He said and took the glass she handed him, drowning it in one gulp and looked to Jax at her next question. What exactly would you want to know? My history isnt very spectacular or interesting. He said

"What exactly would you want to know? My history isnt very spectacular or interesting." She took a look at him from the rim of the glass as she took another sip. She pushed her full curly mane away from her shoulder and rested her head on her hand. Jackie shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know, everyone has a story, ya know? Like what brought you to this point? Why'd you come to this bar and grace me with your company?" She smiled and half-joked as she smushed the cigarette into the ashtray.
After her second drink Jackie could feel the effects of the Jack. Damn, that burger better be coming out soon. Haven't hit drinks like this in a long while. AND I'm starving. I don't really need to act like an asshole this early in the day. She took notice that there were a minimal amount of people in the bar. Then again, not many people drink in the early to late afternoon. Jackie seemed very interested what Ev's story would be. Is he in a biker gang? Or maybe he's a crime lord. She laughed internally at her mind bouncing around all over the place, side effect of the booze. Then an idea hit her. What if he is just like me? Super human. Or what if he's one of the people who don't like us. Should i tell him?... better not and play it safe. Remember prepare for the worst.
Not a moment later, the server brought over her cheeseburger. "Thanks. And may we have another round?" As Jackie listened to what Ev had to say she dug into her burger. Not too god damn bad. The only thing is that I don't have any cash to pay for this shit. I'll figure that out later I guess. It didn't even seem like she stopped for a breath of air. The burger was demolished before the server could drop off napkins. Jackie sat back and smirked. "That hit the spot. Good suggestion."

He knew vampires weren't exactly welcomed in this city. This was where the pluses lived, where they claimed after the war. He was going to try and stay low as much as possible. He didn't want the pluse he was tracking to know of his whereabouts. The pluse had caused some problems in New York, he had taken upon himself to clean up the mess and punish the asshole who was responsible. He looked at Jax for a moment before squashing out his cigarette. I'm here on business, why you come here? He asked her.
The alcohol didn't have any effect on him, but the taste was all to sweet. The way he saw it, Jack was just a substitute for blood. He could faintly sense that the Jack was definitely taking a effect on her. He wondered if he was going to have to carry a drunk girl home before continuing his mission. He remained quiet, listening in on his surroundings while her burger came. He had no desire since turning to eat beef or any human food, there was no need to and it wouldn't really give hin any joy. He did like hunting deer and other game and sold their meat at his garage and became a hot commodity.
He snapped from his thoughta and concentration when she commented the burger was a good choice. Damn, whens the last time you ate? He asked as the waitress came back with their another round. He clint his glass with hers before throwing his head back and took the shot like a pro.

"I'm here on business, why you come here?" Jackie wasn't too surprised to hear a short answer like that. Short and sweet, exactly what I'm going to say to him. Although it put all her curiosities on hold, she understood it wasn't any of her business. "Had to get out of Detroit. A lot of bad memories and all i kept finding was trouble." She paused and folded her arms. "Although a bit of trouble can be fun sometimes." A smile found Jackie's face and she looked up at Ev.
She looked down at the plate and gave a big grin. "Oh yeah that. When all you've really been eating for two days is bus station snacks, you'd be a bit hungry too." Jackie watched Ev take another shot. Wow, he must have one hell of a tolerance. Unless his hotel is around here. She mimicked him and tossed back the rest of her third drink. I have noticed lately, it's been harder and harder for me to stay drunk. I love to chase that feeling though, regardless of how many I have. I hate letting my mind run. She looks back at Ev. "You like to throw'em back like me, huh? Seems like you can definitely handle it."
In the corner of her eye Jackie spots a juke box and turns to it. "One of my weaknesses. Music." She knocks her foot against the guitar case. This is my pride and joy. It got a little fucked up in Detroit, had to use it to defend myself. Since this literally is my first stop from leaving the bus stop, i haven't gotten a chance to have it looked at yet. A wave of insecurity hit Jackie. Oh shit, I'm totally talking too much. Damn it. She sits back and holds her arm with her hand. "I get chatty when I drink. Sorry if it's annoying. You can tell me to fuck off any time. I won't get offended." She threw a shoulder up and brushed it off.

Her answer amused him. Normally he was the one either preventing trouble or was cleaning it up. Guess so, if your the one causing it and don't have to clean up the trouble. He said with a small smile. He ordered another round that would be on him. Hope you can handle another shot girl. He teased, taking the shot glass the waitress provided and handed it to her.
Yeah, been drinking for....awhile now so guess I made a very high tolerance. He said and took the shot again, sliding it to the waitress who took all the empty shots from his table.
He watched as she went to a juke box, turning on a tune. He liked art better, but music did give him some muse when he was havibg a artist block and sometimes helped him think. His blue eyes shift over to the guitar case she had and listened as she told alittle bit about her past and what had happened. He stayed quiet, sensing her uneasiness now. That was understandable, they had just met and could always go into more detail later, if their was a later.
Nah, your fine but maybe that should be your last shot, dont need you stumbling all over San Francisco. He said with a smirk.

"Guess so, if your the one causing it and don't have to clean up the trouble." Jackie hummed the tune of 'Sweet Child O'Mine' as it played in the background. "Yeah I guess you're right. I know when it's time to be responsible. Sometimes it's just nice to let lose and act my own damn age once in a while." She threw back her last shot, quick and put it back down on the table rather hard. Her mind traveled to her lack of a childhood for a spilt second and she gritted her teeth slightly. "Thanks for that last shot." She said with a hard exhale as her eyes looked right into his.
"Nah, your fine but maybe that should be your last shot, dont need you stumbling all over San Francisco." Jackie laughed to herself, smiled and shook herself out of it. "Yeah, yeah. I hear ya and you're right. ... I know you said you were on business, so how long have you been here?" She was trying to stay out of trouble and not get too out of hand. Lighten up Jax. You just got to San Fran, not the time to go off the deep end. Remember you need a job and a place to stay, prioritize. Her mind drifted back into the song once more. Jackie had performed this once before. It was the night she was attacked by that thing. I need to get more information, but now is not the time and I'm not even sure he is the right guy.
Jackie looked around. The bar was getting a little more populated. She looked into her bag to see what kind of money she can come up with. Shit. In her hand rested her last 20$. I'm not leaving this guy with the tab. That's so fucked. I'll pay my share but sorry lady, no tip from me. You'll have to work extra hard for that loss tonight. She was no where near close to leaving but Jackie has to plan ahead, no doubt about it. "Either I'm hogging the conversation or you're a man of few words." She joked with a half smile as she pushed her hair back, yet again. I don't want to piss him off but I want test the waters a little bit. They don't call it liquid courage for nothing.

If he ever truly acted his age then he might as well just go and lay down in a coffin and pretend that he was a skeleton. Just how old are you? He asked curiously. She looked to be in her middle twenties. He looked to be in his early forties but he was way older than that in vampire years. Your welcomed. He said and opened his wallet, fishing out to pay his tab and to leave a tip.
He noticed that she seem to be down to her last dollar. He glanced down at his own wallet. He was actually a very well off guy and wouldn't really lose anything with paying for her. He got up, handing her money back and paid for her tab and her tip. Just keep it, you'll need it. He said, putting away his wallet now.
The bar started to get more crowded now, guess it was lunch hour. He checked his watch and saw that it was actually already five o clock. Wow he must have seriously lost the time. He cocked an eyebrow at her next statement. It was probably the alcohol talking but he put on his jacket now, slipping on his sunglasses and looked at her. Maybe so chatty katty, but cant reveal all my secrets just yet. He said.

"Just how old are you?" Jackie laughed. "Well I guess I look a little older than I am. I just turned 21. No offense or anything but you seem to be a little older than me. Which doesn't creep me out or anything. You're not the first older dude to come over and talk to me. I was always told that I have an 'old soul' feel about me. I think it's the not-giving-a-fuck-attitude but that's just me. I try to be respectful to others and just mind my own business." She perked up her eyebrows and gave a cheesy grin. "Unless you approach me and buy me drinks, then I tend to stick my nose into your business. Sorry bout that again. Chatter box over here." Jackie points to herself. It's a good thing I like older, biker guys. Her mind and eyes went wandering.
"Just keep it, you'll need it." Feeling a little embarrassed, Jackie put her money away and looked up to him. "Thanks. I owe you. And don't worry I always repay my debts. I might not look it but I'm one hell of a fighter, if you ever need a little help. I'm your girl." She nudged him with her elbow and gave a smile. Jackie flipped her jacket around and forced it on. Stupid boobs. Can't ever wear anything I like. She rolled her eyes. "One sec." She held up a finger and walked over to the bar. After a brief moment, Jackie came back with a couple of business cards. "Gotta start somewhere." The business cards were shoved into her back pocket.
"Secrets, huh? Who knows we will even see each other again? I annoy myself after 5 minutes." The two of them walked outside. "Shit, it's bright out here." Jackie squinted her eyes and pressed her sunglasses onto her face. The building wall caught her back as she tried to balance her back pack and her guitar. She placed her guitar on the ground and took a moment to compose. Sheesh. A little more tipsy than I thought. Oh well, it will wear off soon enough. "Where are you off to now?" Jackie said as she felt the map sticking out of her jacket pocket. She ripped it out of her pocket and looked at it, but didn't unravel it. "I hate that I have to carry this around with me. Ugh."

She did look older than she was. To him she looked to be about 25 or 26, not 21. He cocked an eyebrow at her words. He wasn't trying anything and wasn't a horn dog. He didn't want her thinking he was talking to her to get into her pants. He did have some honor and wouldn't take advantage of a drunk or tipsy girl. I'll tell you this, I'm not in any biker gang or anYthing like that. He said, pushing in the chairs and they walked outside.
He was fine but Jax was a different story. Did she even have a place to go? He knew she just got into town. You can fight huh? He said and watched as she sHoved some business cards in her pocket. He would have offered her a job but he lived in another country entirely and wasn't going to open up a place here. They walked outside, the sun was bright and sure enough his bike was the only one sitting in the parking lot.
Going to find a place to stay might be here a couple of days. Do you have a place to stay? He asked, walking over to his bike and checked his bag, making sure his cloths and things were still there.

Jackie took a deep breath and exhaled. She tried to figure out what she wanted to do next from here. Her hands went into her pockets and she looked entranced with thought. "Do I have a place to stay? Not at the moment but I'll be okay. It's a lot warmer out here, I have that going for me." She shrugged. After she had to leave her foster home at 18, Jackie never found a place to call home. She stayed from place to place, whether it be a friends house or one of her brother's places or just some mattress in an abandoned apartment complex. None of it bothered her, she didn't have the cash to pay for a place anyway. That's why they call us starving artists. It's pretty literal I guess.
She felt a vibrate from her bag. Her eyes rolled as she ignored the call. I can't believe Jeremiah bought me this phone. I don't even use it. But I guess I should get more into this day in age of technology or whatever. One of her fingers played with the handles on the bike. "This is a nice bike. One of my brothers would ride all the time. As long as the weather permitted." It was hard for Jackie to carry on conversation and not be stuck in her thoughts. She knew that she needed to continue looking for information and she needed to get her guitar fixed. But the day was already about over. It would be pointless to start this late.
A wave of fatigue hit Jackie. She shook her head a bit. It must be the Jack. Stay focused. You don't know what goes bump in the night here either. As she backed away from the bike she looked up at Ev. "Well I don't want to keep you or anything, if you need to go some where. And Ev don't forget, if you need anything I still owe you." She pulled out one of the business cards from her pocket and a pen from her bag. She smiled and handed him the card. "Here is my cell if you ever are around or need to call in that favor."
