In the Beginning...Humanity had always fancied themselves the only sapient kind of life on earth. They built their society around that little bit of information, never thinking anything of it in the times before chaos reigned. Of course, as we all know now, they were wrong.
The superhumans -- or "Pluses", as they had dubbed themselves, short for Humans Plus -- were the first to reveal themselves. They had been tired of hiding in the shadows for so long, and it was harder than anyone knew to keep some of their powers secret. They came out to the world, praying for open arms and welcoming by the greater community. Humans reacted as they always did to diversity: with guns, and slurs, and ostracism. Some Pluses grew bitter, and stewed in their anger towards their oppressors. But they did not make their move quick enough.A Third Set of PlayersPluses were not the only things of supernatural origin lurking in the shadows. The other creatures were more silent, and in some cases, much more deadly -- but just as wanting of freedom as their brethren had been.
The vampires were led by a council of thirteen. The head of this council was the Lady Charlotte, a small, fair woman who had been turned at the young age of seventeen years old. She and her councilmen and councilwomen had been talking about the prospect of opening the doors to revelation for some years, when the Pluses finally made their move. They watched the events unfold, each one of them more horrified than the last by how it all went down.
Lady Charlotte vowed that nothing of that sort would ever happen to her people. She vowed that they would have their freedom as well as their rights and their happiness, even if they had to take over the world to do so. She put a plan in place to take city after city in the name of the creatures of night, hoping that the other beings they shared the world with would take up the cause.Chaos ReignsUnfortunately for Charlotte and her vampire council, their brothers took their plan as arrogance on their part, not a call to action. After the capture of New York, the Shifters and the Weres began to stir; after the capture of Paris, the Fae began to rally their witchy allies. Demons rose from hell itself to reign fire upon whatever they could reach. None of these races thought to side with anyone other than the races they had sided with before, and so the world was shattered into pieces, and humanity itself was buried under the rubble the other beings left in their wake....In the EndThe world is still reeling from the five years of heavy fighting, but things are starting to calm, if only just a little. No one has taken any cities as of late. No one is disputing borders any longer. But this "peace" is shaky at the very best, nonexistent at the worst. All it would take was one slip-up, one little tipping of the scales, and war will begin anew.
This is the calm, and the storm is surely coming.
