Scotland was, as always, gorgeous during the summer. Of course, the land was pretty year-round--especially when snow-covered--but the cool breezes from the North Sea found in the east, during what was supposed to be the hottest season of all, were refreshing. This week had been exceptionally beautiful. Just the week prior, the Scots had been experiencing near-record high temperatures as a horrendous heat wave swept through the British Isles. Now things were a pleasant 13° Celsius in Edinburgh, and Fionn was relatively certain it was their doing.
The Fae had dropped by about five days ago to explore Scotland's castles. While Fi had been alive since before castles were even a thought in the minds of men, they had seen little of the humans' towering stone fortresses during the Middle Ages. It was a shame, too, as now anyone who desired to had to pay to view some of the most exquisite ancient architecture Scotland had to offer. To make things worse, Edinburgh Castle was only open until six in the evening.
Fi had dealt with quite enough of that. So, one night, they snuck into Edinburgh's best tourist attraction using a little bit of magic and a little bit of well-intentioned trickery. It was much better this way. The city below was the only lighting in the building; darkness and shadow were playing with the flickering of headlights from down on the streets. Perhaps the best part of it all was the dead silence. No noisy tourists. Just peace and quiet in a building whose sheer essence hearkened back to the times that the Fae would sometimes rather forget entirely.
They didn't stay long after making it through the main parts of the castle. It was weakening them; the iron weapons kept in the building as historical pieces were discomforting to be near. To try and offset some of the effects, Fionn headed towards the park simply called the Meadows. Maybe there'd be some unsuspecting humans to play pranks on, or perhaps something more interesting...

Though it was rare that Z needed a breath of fresh air, it was quite common for her to take an occasional stroll of the land her coven now ruled. It was a fine place, really, with very potent ley lines and a high concentration of magic users, Fae or otherwise. Z was satisfied with the alliance between witches and Fae, and as the Fae had much to teach, she had no intention of breaking it. In fact, she'd be on the front line trying to hold it together, if such were necessary.
At present, though, she wasn't searching for any Fae. She wasn't really searching for anything. She'd made certain that her schedule would allow for several hours of wandering before she went to bed after closing her shop, and maybe she could try out some new spells that required nature, or something. If a Fae were to show up, she wouldn't be complaining, either.
Making very certain to take in her surroundings at all times, Z entered the Meadows and took in the fresh air. The air in her home was by no means stale, but it was good to get out and at least make some acquaintances. The more people she could trust to have her back in a bad situation, the better.
She sat down near one of the trees, closing her eyes as she drew the cool night air into her lungs. Dangling from her wrist was a silver bracelet, one she focused on briefly to make sure it was still fully functional. Though she was trying her best to relax, it would have been very unlike herself for Z to ever let down her guard. This was no exception--even as she was sitting and enjoying herself, one of her enchanted pieces of jewelry was doing its duty to shield her from harm if the need should arise.
Z heard another being entering the area and immediately perked up, paying intense attention to the source of the noise but saying nothing.

There were times when Robin liked some peace and tranquillity. Not to be confused with the peace and quiet of xir flat, or the noise and tranquillity of a coffee shop, or even the noise and emotion of the shelter. Those all had a time and a place, and xe adored spending time in each different spot, but right now what xe really wanted, needed really, was a visit to the park.
The Meadows had been a favourite of xem since arriving in Edinburgh, and while xe had hoped originally that there would be good bushes for napping beside, the trees, grass, and seats were plenty comfortable. Perfectly suited for a pleasant afternoon out, some people watching, and with the sandwich xe had in xir pack, xe was set for a good chunk of time.
At one point, Robin closed xir eyes to catch some sun, and when they opened it was definitely not sun xe was catching any more. The sun was long set and coolness was beginning to make xem shiver. Part of xem had always debated whether or not xe was cold blooded, since xe got cold so easily, but since xe was not a lizard Robin had decided xe was probably not a lizard. All the same, xe had ended up staying much later than intended.
Getting to xir feet, Robin reached for xir pack and shrugged it over xir shoulders. Xe figured it would be best to head home and sleep in xir actual bed, rather than on a bench. Having just woken up, xe was certainly not doing well at keeping quiet, scuffing xir shoes on the path and maybe humming to xemself a little. So maybe xe was also doing an awful job of noticing people around xem, but xe figured it was late at night, the park would be empty. Only reason xe was there was because, well. A late afternoon nap was too good to pass up.
