When Devyn told her to hang on, Aleena literally stopped in her tracks, stiffening and turning to the door. For half a moment, she was afraid that the woman had returned, intent on burning her cookies, or whatever evil intention she had for this place. (She used the term evil lightly, as Aleena was quite sure the worst she could have done was over think them to death.) But she did not return; Aleena did not even hear so much as a peep from her as the police swarmed the area and, assumingly, took Alice down.
The Plus' face split into a grin, and she threw her arm over Devyn's shoulders -- perhaps a little too hard. But she grabbed onto her friend, intent on not letting him fall, and butted her head lightly against his. "You, my dear friend, are one lucky little vampire. This is why we keep you around, I'm sure." Okay, so she was kidding, but even if she wasn't, there were still plenty of other reasons to keep Devyn around. Like the fact they were both neuroatypical, for one.
"For that, you get a free doughnut. Eh, maybe two free doughnuts. Because you're just that amazing." She gave his shoulder a squeeze before releasing him finally. Luckily for her and Dev both, she understood what he meant by "kids." Devyn had a fascination with spiders like she had with baking. Her creatures were to her what his spiders were to him, only he couldn't eat his lovelies. "You can bring the kids if you want. I have a bad ant problem in the summer, and sometimes flies like to come in through the open window. They could consider it an all-you-eat buffet."
Aleena paused then, turned to him. "Your home? Hm. I just realized it, but I don't even know where you live. I mean, I know New York, obviously, but the rest of it is a bit of a question mark. But I would love to see it. After you get your doughnuts, of course. They're hot and ready for the nibblin'."

----------- With a small grin, Devyn squeezed Aleena's waist in a mirror of her own movement, sort of a half-hug between friends. "Well, I mean. I'm pretty sure it is literally why they keep me around." Shrugging, he shook his head. "I certainly wouldn't keep me around for my ideas or attention span if I were them, but that's not the point."
Attention span. Right. Stay on track. "Well, thank you! I certainly don't think I actually did much to warrant free anything, but I'll take what I can get." He shuddered at the mention of insects, but quickly turned his thoughts to mental images of his brown recluse, Katherine, devouring the infernal six-legged things to calm himself down. "Brilliant. I can give you the grand tour and bring some of the kids back with me to drop you off here when we're done. It's quite nice, actually, I mean, of course I'd think so, it's my place, but the point stands." He lifted his right index finger, having recalled something, and continued. "Oh! I don't know if you knew this, but I like doing a lot of my own... stuff. With my houses. But this one. This one's quite good, I found this lovely little English boy who does interior design and I think it looks absolutely brilliant."
Shaking his head, he started moving toward his wallet. "Anyway. Probably a good idea to um. Pay you for those donuts. How much? Once we get that done and over with we can get on our way and all that... jazz." He shook his hands for emphasis. "Now that the... annoying woman's gone, I feel a lot better about tonight. It's looking to be a good night. Anyway. Would you like to get on our way once the donuts are all wrapped up?"
