I'd like to suggest a welcoming committee in order to get recently-accepted new roleplayers involved in the site. I'd imagine that for those who are coming in from the top sites and don't know anyone on All Creatures, it'd be kinda difficult to start up: there are lots of questions as to the unspoken rules of the community ["Can you join an open thread if someone else has already responded?"] as well as the fact that it's hard to connect with people who are already friends [think of what it was like on the playground. You wanted to join in but there was a chance that the kids might not respond to you at all, or worse, make fun of you or chastise you]. I know I've been struggling trying to 'fit in' and that's WITH knowing Sunny from real life.
Anyway, just an idea. Feel free to discuss what a hypothetical welcoming committee would look like, or how it would/wouldn't work.

I love the idea of a welcoming committee! Especially because I know that feeling pretty well and I know having a group of people with prior experience with one another has been rather noninclusive for some people in certain ways. :<
We just need to figure out what it would entail. Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe one thing could be making sure they get a thread off the bat somehow, or someone to reply to their first open?

A thread off the bat/first post reply would both be great, and I was thinking this group could also potentially message new members with "So you were accepted, congrats, here are some things to do that will help you/make the experience more in depth and fun." Interaction is definitely key here, after all!

I kinda wanted to add on to this, as I think it's a great idea! It might also be good to have a short area for people to introduce who they are and what characters they play, so that we have an informal list of the people on the site
