FULL NAME:: Baron Edmund James Cromwell
NICKNAMES:: Baron Cromwell, Cromwell, Eddie
GENDER:: Male
ACTUAL AGE:: 367
APPARENT AGE:: Late forties, early fifties
SPECIES/RACE:: Vampire
PREFERRED PRONOUNS:: he/him/his
SEXUAL ORIENTATION:: Homosexual
FACECLAIM:: Samuel L. Jackson
NATIONALITY:: English
HEIGHT:: 6' 0"
HAIR:: Would be black but greying--he keeps it shaved
EYES:: Dark
SKIN:: Raw sienna
DISTINGUISHING MARKS:: Scars from battles with werewolves are all over his body.
APPEARANCE:: Cromwell is a distinctive man. He's more tall than short, with dark skin and eyes and a perfectly shaved head. His fingers are thick and squared, his hands large and worn from use unlike a great many other barons. He's a well-built man, and it shows. His brawn isn't too overt, no, but you can look at him and know he's powerful by the way he carries himself more than his hidden muscle.
Edmund tends to dress himself in a semi-casual manner, in collared shirts without ties that are untucked from his slacks. He likes leather jackets, and wears them quite frequently. Most of these jackets are padded to be as stake-proof as he can manage, and are meant to withstand the elements. He carries small pocket defenses against most other beings on his person in one of his jacket pockets, but the most notable accessory he carries is a .45 Magnum, loaded with a silver bullet. He's got a couple of iron ones, as well as salt and keeps a shotgun with an entire box of silver slugs in the trunk of his car.
PERSONALITY:: Cromwell is a cautious man. He is constantly thinking through his next move, even if one can't see the gears turning in his head. He's a brilliant logician though some would assume the contrary based on his tendency to rush into fights with werewolves as soon as possible. He doesn't let go of grudges easily, and though he's not a man often angered, when he is, he has little to no restraint for those that have made him angry.
He's a quiet man most of the time, but Cromwell knows when he needs to speak and tends not to use big words unless it's necessary. This makes him come off as dumb to a lot of others, and he does little to dispute these claims. He can also come off as silly, based on his casual behavior and jovial manner, but is very good at getting down to business when he needs to. He's very good at switching gears in this manner as well.

EXTENDED FAMILY:: None known

HISTORY:: Edmund James Cromwell was born in 1647 as the first and noticeably tallest in the Cromwell family. He was known for his aggressive but playful nature, and got into frequent scraps with other boys in the area. Born into mild nobility, Cromwell had the fortune of going to school when he was capable, and since the title meant less and less as time went on, Edmund thought it would be a good idea to go to school to become a doctor. Though he faced adversity based on his skin color, Cromwell pulled through and earned the right to practice medicine.
As he started to grow older, Cromwell realized that he didn't like women in the way the other men seemed to. He had been so focused on his schooling that he'd failed to notice anything else, but now that he was out practicing he found that he was feeling sexual interest toward men rather than women. This perplexed him, but he didn't allow it to stop him from pursuing what he wanted. He grew intimate with a man called Jacob, and the two fell deeply in love shortly thereafter. Soon, he became close friends a woman named Elizabeth, whom he married so that she could live independently without feeling controlled by a man that "owned" her, and Jacob could live with Edmund without being questioned by friends or family. The three grew older, and when they were in their late forties, they were approached by a man who asked them if they would like to live forever. All three accepted and were turned that night.
Cromwell didn't really mind living at night. He could still go out and practice medicine under the cloak of darkness, and his family didn't mind much, either. They adopted three children, and for some time everything was fine. Cromwell treated them all as his own, and cherished the time that he spent with them. Then everything changed when the werewolves attacked.
sorry I couldn't help myself
One full moon, while Cromwell was out with a patient, werewolves invaded his home. They had caught wind that there was a small collection of vampires adopting children, and had assumed they were up to no good and were training the children to kill off more of their kind due to a long-standing local feud. When Cromwell returned, he found his family slaughtered, their heads severed from their bodies and their entrails spilled out onto the floor. The same night, Cromwell decorated his home with the broken bodies of five werewolves, making each and every death as painful as he could before finally killing them. To this day, Cromwell will attest that it was only his superior strength that kept him in the fight--that, and the adrenaline.
After that, Cromwell fled the city and went hunting in the woods for more of the packs that had taken the lives of those he cared about. For over one hundred and fifty years, Cromwell lived in rural England and drank mostly the blood of the werewolves he killed, though for nutrients he did take a sip from local farmers every once in a while--never enough to kill, as he wanted to end the lives of none but the werewolves. He had heard of other were-creatures, but did not consider them a threat unless they were predatory. He found a great deal of creative ways to end the lives of werewolves, and has kept a comprehensive diary of such endeavors--written with the feather of a crow sharpened to a tip and, of course, the blood of werewolves.
Sometime later, in the late 1800s, his hunting brought him back into London. There were several prostitutes in the Whitechapel area that knew the whereabouts of the pack that had killed his family--or at least, the ones that had survived--and when they refused to tell him, he mutilated their bodies in rage and grief, making certain he was keeping his knowledge of the human anatomy sharp by gutting them and removing some of their organs. He didn't ever report anything about it, but the deeds went down in history under the name "Jack the Ripper."
Cromwell spent most of his time in the wilderness letting his money gain interest as he killed werewolves and lived on the bare minimum. After encountering a few vampires, he became a legend in the European vampire community, and eventually met up with Ashanti, one of his closest friends and confidantes. His driving energy and superior physical strength made him an obvious choice for the Council, and he was quickly recruited and has remained in the area ever since.
Once London was taken by the weres, Cromwell moved to New York and has lived there since, defending the vampire home turf from his most hated enemy while working as a doctor on the side.
