After visiting her child, Elizabeth had decided to go home, at least for a little bit. She did not care to be away from her husband and youngest children, especially since she had just given birth only a year or two before. So, after sharing an entire day with her child, she returned to Damien. They shared stories of their day, and they had cuddled. Damien had spent his day teaching their children of their heritage. A usual day for him, but Elizabeth had more to tell, such as their child’s accomplishment. But, more importantly, she told him of the demon.
She was so proud of him. Her little Angel was finally starting to find an interest in things other than zir writing. Not that she was disappointed in zir choice of careers; on the contrary, she was quite pleased. But, unlike zirparents, Angel had never had time for men or women. Zie had never bothered to look for a mate. Zie only had time for zir work, but that had never been enough for Elizabeth. Though she loved her children, she was still a woman, and she was still human; she wanted grandchildren.
The fates must have sent zir a mate, and, from what Elizabeth had heard, she was an absolute catch.
First, she was a gossiper, much like him. Even better, the two were at odds. Not enough that they were fighting, mind you, but enough that they were competitors. Rivals. If traveling the world had taught her one thing, it’s that often times, those who were at odds were the ones that dared to find forbidden love. They were the ones who dove into each other and tore into each other, simply because there was only one other that understood them. She could only hope that Angel found a way to do the same.
Once her time with her husband had come to a conclusion and he had left to train the children once more, Elizabeth decided to take to the earth for one last time. She would probably come back and visit Angel more, of course, but traveling between the realms, at least by herself, was challenging, even if Elizabeth did need a night away from the family.
That was why she had chosen to go to a game, instead of perhaps a play or a concert. Though she was a lover of classical things, times had changed and so had she. Now she enjoyed more “manly” things, like baseball and other sports. That was why, when given a choice, she appeared in the bathroom of National’s Park Stadium. Once past security, she bought a box of popcorn and settled herself into a seat.
It was going to be a good day, she told herself. After all, it already had been.

NOTES [ none ] | Tiamat was in a pretty good mood.
Creti had decided on a whim after scouting out Washington, D.C. for a bit that they should all pop by and go to the game taking place soon. There weren't any objections, at least none that xe heard, and so xe had purchased a ticket and a bag of peanuts and took a seat with a space away from anyone in the surrounding area.
Most of the heads didn't really like sports all that much, but Creti thought they were about as close to a carnival as they could get any time soon. Xe especially enjoyed baseball, with the swinging of heavy weaponry upon a small target with the intent of making it go as far away as possible. It reminded xir of the old times. Xe sometimes wondered if xe could play with xir tail someday, if Tia ever found others. Preferably non-hostile others with tails, or other appendages to play baseball with. Xe didn't really like the idea of playing with any of the currently surfaced groups.
The game wouldn't start for quite a bit now, so xe turned to the being next to xir and tried to make small talk. "Hey," xe said, smiling brightly. "How are you doing on this lovely day? Not too bad, I hope."
Creti, Ama complained, why are you chatting up this clearly inferior being? There's no knowledge to be gained here. I don't even understand why we're in the stadium in the first place when the Library of Congress is so close I can nearly taste it.
Too many books. Too many people checking the books out. Knowledge is power, and power is free at libraries. We need to burn it. Burn it to the ground--
Guys! Creti complained, making a small whining noise. I'm trying to be nice. We can use more allies. We've barely got any! Most humans have resources, anyway, and anything is better than nothing. So please stop criticizing me?
The others went silent, and Creti focused back on xir target. "Looking forward to the game?"

It was a good thing Elizabeth wasn't a loner, as no less than five minutes after sitting down, someone else began to speak to her. For most, this might have been off putting, and they might have shot the visitor a nasty look or just ignored them. But Elizabeth wasn't most people. Elizabeth didn't shy away from contact or conversation and so, as soon as the stranger opened xir mouth, she was turned around and looking at xir, a smile on her face.
"Afternoon!" she replied, taking her drink into her hand. After sipping from it, therefore giving the other individual the chance to speak, she continued. "I'm doing well, actually. Just got back from visiting my daugh-- ah. Child, pardon." She mentally corrected herself three more times before continuing on with the conversation, "But zie isn't one to care much for leaving zir house, so I came along. How about you?"
She brought the straw up to her lips once more, taking a few sips. She was always worried for herself and Angel when she had to use the proper pronouns, even if she was being a decent human being by doing so. For starters, most humans either didn't understand them, or thought they were ridiculous. The last thing Elizabeth wanted to do was hurt her child, but at the same time, she wanted to keep Angel safe. She wanted to keep all of her children safe.
But she also wanted to make them feel safe.
The other continued to talk, and Elizabeth immediately removed the drink from her lips, "Oh, of course. I haven't had the chance to enjoy a good game in... several years, actually. My husband is a very busy man, and we just don't--" She cut herself off, inserting the straw back into her mouth.
She could gush forever about her family and her loved ones, if given the right time and energy. But this was not the time nor the place, as they were both at a baseball game, not group therapy. Perhaps later, if the pair hit it off, she could brag about her family.

NOTES [ none ] | Creti caught onto the nonbinary pronouns immediately, smiling. This woman was something else. See? Told you she could be useful. Humans who can understand pronouns outside the binary, even if they have some trouble, are a treasure in this day and age.
I suppose so, Ama agreed, a good amount of bitterness in their voice. Just make sure this trip isn't a waste of time.
Yes. We could be burning something and instead we're watching humans hit a ball with a stick. This had better serve some purpose.
What Lulu said. I'm pretty sure we'll all make your life absolutely miserable if this turns out to be a pointless venture.
The white head gulped visibly, closing xir eyes for a moment. Matt? You too?
I don't mind that we're here, but if you don't do anything productive while you're here, I'm not going to be happy, no. But I do believe in your ability to make something good out of this conversation.
Noted. Creti refocused xir mind on the conversation, shaking xir head. "Oh, that's a shame. I really would've liked to meet zir," xe said, giving Elizabeth a wide smile. "I've been having a good time, too, though I don't have any relatives. I just haven't been able to go out and do anything for a long time. I love circuses, and I haven't been able to see one in a really long time. So I figured I'd go out and do something that was also entertaining and involved peanuts. I really like peanuts." To emphasize xir point, xe shoved a few peanuts into xir mouth and sucked on them while Elizabeth spoke. Xe enjoyed the salt on the shells, and xe may have eaten more than a few of the shells. That was fine--their stomach could handle it--but the other heads didn't like it quite so much since it tended to leave an odd feeling in their throat.
"Oh! That sounds difficult," Creti said once xe had emptied xir mouth of peanuts once more. "I haven't got anyone in my life, but, um, I bet it'd be hard for me if I did and they were gone a lot. So you have my sympathy." Xe shuffled into a more comfortable position in xir chair. "I don't have time coming out my ears, either, but I've got enough to at least be able to go around and enjoy myself, so there is that."
Once xe had finished speaking, xe took that opportunity to fill xir mouth full of peanuts again so xe wouldn't be tempted to interrupt while xir new potential friend/ally was talking.

Elizabeth nodded as Creti continued on with the conversation. "I understand," she admitted, and took a sip from her drink. "Like I said, my child doesn't, and to be frank most likely cannot, leave the house as much as zie would like, so it's up to me to go out and live for zir. Hopefully I can grab a ball or perhaps a snack for zir while I'm here. Zie loves junk food."
At least, Elizabeth thought Angel liked junk food. It had been a while, and Angel seemed to have gotten crankier as the years had rolled by. Perhaps zie was turning into one of those "super vegan only eats natural 200% organic" type of eaters. That was, of course, discounting the fact zie ate humans and anyone who tried to disturb zir. But if that was the way Angel was going, then so be it. Elizabeth would just get zir another treat some other time.
"Peanuts actually sound like a good compromise," she said, giving Creti a smile. "Salty, but also a treat. Perfect for my little one." At least, she really hoped so.
Elizabeth gave a little shrug at Creti's words, though she meant it a little less callously than it might have come across. "My husband's a very powerful man, and I'm used to not seeing more of the world. Doesn't mean I enjoy it, mind you, but... his needs and his career come before my need to see a baseball game." That much was the truth, and that much she knew.
Reaching over, Elizabeth stole a peanut from xir.
"Don't get me wrong, either. I love the man. And it's not like he keeps me in our house twenty-four seven, or even really at all. I just enjoy being around him. There's something about him that just makes me content, you know?"

NOTES [ dragon procreation is apparently pretty weird ] | Creti listened to Elizabeth talk about her family, nodding when appropriate and paying close attention. So. She's got a powerful husband and a child that can't leave the house. Sounds like she's pretty top-tier. If I get in her good books, maybe we can get in on it?
Creti, Ama droned, I think it's going to take much more than those tiny leads to give me any hope for this conversation and entire endeavor being anything short of a complete waste of time. The only reason I agreed to it was so that I could think through our next moves, and you keep interrupting me when I'm trying to focus.
Well, sorry for being concerned with whether or not you want any of this goddamn information! Creti replied, cutting off the sensory data from the rest of the heads. Xir head went silent, save for xir own thoughts. Finally.
"What does your husband do?" xe asked, putting on xir best innocently curious expression. "And also your child--I'm interested in what zie does, if zie can't leave zir house." Xe was better at gathering information than Ama would ever give xir credit for, though xe knew that the likelihood of xir companion answering these questions as straightforwardly as xe would like was slim.
"That sounds... really nice, actually," xe replied. "I suppose I've never felt that. I've never been content to just be around a mate. Or, partner, I guess. I've always felt like I wanted something more out of it." None of them had really dated much, given their vastly different preferences. They'd resigned themselves to only dating another five-headed dragon with a similar orientation to their own, they supposed. Tiamat's particular species did have both the capability to lay and fertilize eggs, but the results of the child would be different based on which way it went, not to mention fertilizing one's own eggs was impossible. Creti wondered briefly if xir eggs could be fertilized by another race, and if so, what sort of being it would be.
"Not that I've never wanted to settle down... it's just never worked out quite right, I guess." Creti shook xir head, wondering if they could ever even think of making a nest and having offspring--or even just mating for life--with a being without the same lust for power. "You sound like you're happy, though, and that's great. I'm happy for you."
