FULL NAME:: Jackie Mercer
NICKNAMES:: Jax
GENDER:: Female
ACTUAL AGE:: 21
APPARENT AGE:: Her physic makes her look a lot older than she is.
SPECIES/RACE:: Plus
PREFERRED PRONOUNS:: she / her / hers
SEXUAL ORIENTATION:: hetero - biromantic
FACECLAIM:: Kat Dennings
NATIONALITY:: N/A
HEIGHT:: 5'5"
HAIR:: Wavy brown
EYES:: Baby blue
SKIN:: Milky white
DISTINGUISHING MARKS:: Tattoos on her arms and scars on her hands.
APPEARANCE::
Jackie is a voluptuous young woman, who is 5'5" and weighs 135 pounds. She has flawless wavy brown hair; it is usually messy and in everything, until she finds a hair tie to pull it up into a further messy bun. Her eyes glow a piercing baby blue. The interesting fact about Jackie's eyes is that they tell the exact emotion she is feeling at that moment, even if she is trying to hide it. She has a very strong jawbone and her nose is very distinct. Many times she thought to get her nose pierced but her brothers stopped her every time, they claimed it would "taint her natural beauty". Jackie also has the most perfect lips which are usually accompanied by the richest shade of red.
On the palms of her hands she has a few deep scars. To cover the hideousness of her hands, Jackie acquired different array of tattoos all over her body. She has so many on her arms but there is one that stands out. It says Spare and it’s on her right forearm. The way she dresses matches exactly her attitude, like a rock star. She always has the black jacket, leather boots and acoustic guitar accompanying her. She doesn't go anywhere without them.
PERSONALITY::
On the surface Jackie looks like your typical attention seeking outcast with a bad attitude. But she's quite different from the stereotype. Jackie stands quiet unless she is fighting for something that she believes needs to be addressed, which most of the time will get her in trouble. Although she does enjoy getting into a vast amount of trouble, she doesn't seek anyones attention. Don't get her wrong, she will sock you with a bit of sass and sarcasm if you agitate her or bore her. To be honest, Jackie doesn't really care much about anyone. She pretty much is on her own, which isn't always the best for her.
Over the years, Jackie has become quite the entertainer. Once she started playing in bars she enjoyed work a little bit more. When she works her live gigs Jackie gets very illuminated, having a few does help cut the condescending voices down a little bit. But when she is on stage it's very different from when you get to know her. She works the rockstar attitude very well when she is out and about but she also can be quite the contradiction. For that brief amount of time on stage Jackie becomes someone she believes she could have been if life were a fairy tale. Knowing people enjoy her work and take the time to watch her play, gives her such confidence and pride.
Jackie isn't the poster child for mental health. Underneath the rockstar physic she is broken inside. Besides always talking down to herself, Jackie doesn't trust many people. The only way she can figure to get through what she has suffered is to write songs and play her music. It's the outlet that she has chosen. In her mind, nothing will go right for her and the only way she can adapt is prepare for the worst. Jackie can convince herself to fight for what is right and stick to what she knows. That's what her brothers always taught her.

HISTORY::
Jackie was put in an orphanage just outside of Detroit when she was about 5. She had no recollection of what happened to her parents and so she kept to herself. All she remembered was dragging around a guitar with her, she had no reason to keep it but she thought it must have had a connection to her real parents. After being there for several years, Jackie learned quickly who the “bad man” was and tried to stay away from him in his drunken stupor. When she turned 10, Jackie attempted to escape the treacherous grasp the orphanage had on her but it was unsuccessful. On that cold january night, Jackie was dragged through the snow back into that hell. As hard as she could try to fight off the “bad man” he over powered her and threw her face down into the glass coffee table. Jackie would always bare the scars from that night and swore to never let anyone treat her like that again.
Years later, on her 15th birthday Jackie was adopted by Evelyn Mercer, a kind hearted older woman who was looking to create a family of her own. When Jackie arrived at her new home, she was greeted by 3 teenage boys and an acoustic guitar. Evelyn had adopted all of them from different orphanages around Detroit. After the years had gone by, Jackie grew to love this new family and found her passion for music. Every night Jackie played her heart out on that guitar and prepared herself for a difficult future as a musician, or so she thought.
One high school summer break Jackie changed forever but she will not know the lengths of this change until later in her life. On that brutally hot day, 17 year old Jackie was outside wrestling with her older brothers. Jeremiah and Bobby picked up Jackie and started throwing her over their shoulders and pinning her to the ground. This was the same old stunts they would do every other day. Once Jackie broke out of their hold, Angel ran straight for her and tackled her down again. The wind was knocked right out of her and as she struggled for air an odd sensation overcame her. She felt a tingle run through her skin and empower her muscles. Just as Bobby ran over to check on Jackie, Angel was thrown up into the air knocking Bobby down. Jackie had never known strength and power like this before but it had scared her and her brothers. They teased her about being a girl when they wrestled one another but never disrespected her because after that day they knew she could hold her own.
One by one each sibling left the mercer household and ventured off onto their own journeys. When it was Jackie's turn to leave, at the age of 18, evelyn smiled at her and said, “you will always be my spare, Jackie.”
The years leading up to her 21st birthday were very hard for Jackie. The money from her gigs barely covered the cost for food and squatting was her only choice for shelter. Harsh Detroit nights were no friend of Jackie but she carried on. Her guitar gave her enough hope to keep on pursuing her dreaded career.
On the night of her final gig and the eve of her 21st birthday, Jackie came to terms with her true destiny. After leaving the bar and heading to her "hiding hole", or so she called it, Jackie decided to take a different unfamiliar alley. Keeping her guard up, Jackie walked briskly down the darkened, narrow street clutching her guitar case severely. She had stopped and quickly turned around to find some sort of monster standing behind her. Unsure of what to do, Jackie shoved the guitar between the two of them and the creature forced it aside. She noticed he had such rage in his eyes and such sharp teeth. After pushing her guitar to the side, he charged her. Jackie threw the guitar down and used the momentum to push him right past her. She had never been attacked by anyone who looked like that before. As he was coming back, Jackie opened the guitar case to find the guitar broken, but still connected by the strings. Saddened and upset by this broken memory, Jackie picked up the guitar and with all her force smashed it against the man's chest. This villain shot back and fled. Still shaken by this bizarre encounter, Jackie sat on the ground and took a moment to think. She needed answers and she needed them quick.
OOC NAME:: Mercedes
ROLEPLAYING EXPERIENCE:: Years and Years (at least 5-8 years on and off)
ANY NOTES:: This character is adapted from a movie called, Four Brothers. Original character is male.
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE::
After the encounter with the creature in the alley, Jackie packed all she owned and went straight into one of the internet cafes down the street. She sat down at a computer and tried to figure out what the hell was going on. After about an hour of research, Jackie found out she wasn't alone. She had been so closed out from the world that she had no idea what was going on out in the world. This is so much to grasp. I need a drink. Jackie sat back and thought about what to do next. She slipped a small flask out from her leather backpack and took a small swig.
Knowing the very little amount of cash she had on her, Jackie figured she wouldn't be able to pay for much more without another gig. She put the flask away and took note that she needed to vacate Detroit before she ran into another monster. But where to go from here? Jackie leaned toward the computer and scrolled a bit more. She had never put together that there might be people in the world who had abilities like her. I know I'm human, but I didn't think I would be superhuman. She looked down at her hands, at the scars. I don't remember getting any other scars since this. She rolled up her sleeves and checked her arms.
Jackie had finished her self-inspection and decided to venture out to find people like her. She had found that there was a gathering of these “superhuman” folk in San Francisco. It would be quite the trip from Detroit but nothing she couldn't handle. Jackie has always been ready for a little bit of excitement and adventure. She grabbed the case holding together her broken guitar and tightened the straps on her backpack. Jackie slipped out of the cafe without paying and b-lined to the bus station. The remaining money should go to the bus ticket. I can snatch food and other things on my way out there. Jackie hopped on the bus and gazed over the city that made her into the woman she had become. She hugged the guitar, rested her head on the top of it as the bus' engine roared and took her away.
