FULL NAME:: Bailey Jackson Cooper
NICKNAMES:: None yet
GENDER:: Bigender
ACTUAL AGE:: 36
APPARENT AGE:: Early twenties
SPECIES/RACE:: Shifter (skinchanger)
PREFERRED PRONOUNS:: They/them. Just tends to work better for everybody. Also acceptable are he/him when they're appearing male, and she/her when they're appearing female.
SEXUAL ORIENTATION:: Pansexual Polyamorous
FACECLAIM:: Zachary Quinto/Ellen Page
NATIONALITY:: American
HEIGHT:: 6'1"/5'1"
HAIR:: Brown
EYES:: Brown
SKIN:: Fair
DISTINGUISHING MARKS:: They've got a few scars from their childhood, and their female form has a few freckles, but nothing too noticeable.
APPEARANCE:: There are quite a few differences in Bailey's appearances based on what they're feeling as far as gender goes at the time. They're dainty and mostly unassuming as a girl, but are taller and more definitively masculine when they're male. As such it's pretty easy to tell what their current gender is. They like those appearances pretty well, though, so they never stray from those two faces. Well, that and they can't, but that's neither here nor there.
Bailey prefers earthy tones and seems to like green and browns the best, though they do also like various shades of blue. This turns up frequently in their small wardrobe, which seems to consist of a lot of plaid and plain tee shirts and some jeans. They have a beat-up pair of chucks that they may very well never replace, but on days of inclement weather they swap them out for an equally battered pair of tennis shoes. Luckily, the tennis shoes have a bit better soles on them, and are more watertight. The laces are frayed at the ends, though, and the insides have worn extremely thin.
More often than not, whatever they're wearing is a little dirty. They don't really like to settle down for long, and as a result, most of their clothing is also rather worse for the wear. The one thing that Bailey owns that isn't in bad shape is a long bo staff that unscrews in the middle into two separate pieces. They wear the pieces on each side to use as shorter sticks should the need arise, and carry no other weapons.
PERSONALITY:: Bailey is naturally spontaneous, fun-loving, and loves to march to the beat of their own drum, but due to their living situation at present, they're a bit down more often than not and tend to be pessimistic about their life and future. Bailey has depression, and this can take a toll on their hygiene. They'd love to have new clothes, as they've got a good eye for appearances, but they're quite poor and don't seem to have much to offer anyone else to get a job. This feeds into their depression as well, often leading to severe down spikes.
They are desperately searching for a job of some sort, but it's been very difficult for them to peg down anything due to their lack of depth in skill sets. They don't like being pitied, but they really would like something stable. They try to be pretty entertaining and upbeat, though this can fall flat pretty quickly when they're not feeling up to it. Though not technically an alcoholic because of its infrequency, they do enjoy going to bars and drinking when they get especially sad. They like talking, and they really like helping people, but they aren't often given the opportunity.
Though they chose to move to Louisiana because of the lack of faction space, Bailey enjoys the company of all races except humans that are particularly set in their humanity. Having dealt with their father in their childhood, they have no tolerance for people who think humans are in the right in trying to eradicate any of the other races. Bailey does not align themselves with the shifters or weres, though. They would be happy to lend their talents to any non-human faction that requires their assistance… if said faction could find a use for them and could give them a little more than they have now.

HISTORY:: Contains mild dysphoria, sibling death, alcoholism, abuse, and homelessness.
Bailey and Karen were born only minutes apart from one another, and they were inseparable from the moment they left the womb. In their infancy, they would only fall asleep when they were together, when they grew to be toddlers, they were always near each other while playing. It was rare to find one without the other in any situation, though they did have differences in interests and personality. Bailey had always been a bit more spontaneous, Karen more finicky. Bailey liked to build things with the express purpose of being knocked down, and Karen enjoyed ramming her favorite toy car into whatever Bailey had built. Their differences worked well together.
As they grew, their shifter abilities surfaced around the same time. They learned quickly how to shift into each other as well as a set of various animals they'd seen in pet stores, on the Discovery channel, or around the neighborhood. Every once in a while once they'd perfected their talents, they would trade places and pretend to be the other for the day, just to see if anyone would notice. They were so attuned to one another's thoughts and feelings that no one ever did.
Bailey started to discover that he was bigender when he was about thirteen. He felt more comfortable in his twin's body than his own, sometimes, and he wasn't quite sure how to feel about that. Karen had never experienced that, at least not that she'd told him, and she told him everything. Or at least he thought she did. Then again, he also thought people didn't die from influenza anymore, not in America. His sister battled with the flu and the developing pneumonia for what felt like forever before passing away, leaving Bailey terrified and more alone than he'd ever known before.
Once Karen was gone, grief drove Michael to alcoholism. He'd loved his daughter dearly and had spent a great deal of time with her, doting on her at every possible opportunity and making sure she had the best that life could give her. Now that she was gone, he withdrew from Bailey altogether, and Josephine was left bewildered and upset over the loss of her daughter and, in a sense, her husband. Bailey thought that he might be able to fix the problem by revealing his shifter powers to his father, telling him that he was in fact both he and a she depending on how they felt that day and displaying their abilities to their father. Michael did not react well to seeing the face of his dead daughter, and beat Bailey into silence so that their mother would never know about their abilities.
When Bailey was eighteen, their father informed them that they were to leave the house the night after their graduation party or there would be serious consequences. They complied for fear of angering their violent father, taking their graduation gifts with them and hitting the road. Bailey managed to crash on the couch of an angel-faced twentysomething named Nathan for a while, and did odd jobs to pay some rent. The two slept together frequently, the blonde-haired boy preferring Bailey's female body but not driven away from their male. Bailey had grown to view their sister's face as their own, so this was less weird than one would expect.
Unfortunately, Bailey had to skip town after one particular job got them in trouble with a local gang. They found out a little too late that they were carrying Nathan's child, and racked up a sizable hospital bill having the child as they had wanted to have children. They named her Lily, and they weren't quite sure what to do about her. After all, they were homeless, and they didn't want to make her suffer through what they were going to go through, but they did want her and didn't want to give her up for adoption. Fortunately for them, it wasn't too long before they bumped into a demon named Tamiel. He made them a deal: he would make sure the both of them had a good, secure home in exchange for three nights with Bailey. Bailey saw no problem with this, even if at the end he decided to take their soul in exchange.
Instead, Bailey found out that Tamiel was genuinely interested in the well-being of Nephilim (the word for half-angels, as Bailey found out) and managed to find the both of them a secluded home in Ireland. Bailey and Lily remained there until the war broke out, and Bailey made certain that Lily was safe with friends in Ireland before hopping back over to Louisiana to try to figure out what to do with their life.
While in Louisiana, Bailey has learned how to fight with a staff and sticks. They have a home to go back to, but they don't consider many luxuries a priority and as such they go without. They do, however, have a computer and an internet connection so they can Skype with the now-seventeen Lily and make sure she's doing alright. Bailey is aiming to find something good to contribute to someone so that they can have some stability, and would prefer the tumultuous, tense peace the world is currently experiencing to fighting again.

POWERS::
- Shapeshifting: Though in theory Bailey should be able to take on both forms of other people and of animals, in practice they only have one other human form that they can mimic, which they use to switch genders. If they tried very hard, they could probably learn to shift into other people, but it'd take time and focus that they just aren't willing to put in. They have a few animal forms they've practiced enough to turn into, listed below in weaknesses. Partial shapeshifting is out of the question.
