It had been a while since the last time she got a lead as good as this one. Usually tracking down the Faceless operatives took weeks – even months – of work to find one agent, but this time she found three. Clearly a team, she followed them from a small town in Illinois to the bustling English city of London. Besides Chicago, London was one of her favourite places to be. She found the coffee scene to be more unique, offering less Starbucks and more individual cafés. Not that she had anything against Starbucks: it was generally her go-to place for coffee. It made making orders across borders a whole lot simpler.
She was in London about a week by the time the three agents were dispatched and disposed of, burned to ash and spread in the wind. She wouldn’t get any trouble from them and now they couldn’t do to others what they’d done to her. While her list was still an unknown length, she allowed herself to be pleased with the success of this trip.
Being pleased involved sitting in a cozy little café with a hazelnut macchiato and a half-finished croissant, relaxing at the corner table in the back of the place with her hair down loose around her shoulders for once. Her clothes were fresh, just as her recently-showered self was. After all, if she planned to maintain her anonymity she couldn’t go around coated in ash with her clothes dotted with burns, now could she?
Having dealt with the last person on this particular list, Evanthe was free to do whatever she liked with her remaining time in London and she planned to do just that. A little sight-seeing, a little harmless destruction, and a fair bit of rest and relaxation rounded out her plans quite nicely.

There was just something about London. Fenrir wasn't sure what, exactly, seeing as how it was the first city he'd passed through. Well..came to would be a more appropriate word, seeing as how he'd been there over a week already and didn't seem to be leaving any time soon. Sure, he wanted to see the world, but really...he was a god. So, he had all the time in the world, when one really thought about it. So maybe he'd stay awhile, learn more about the city and its inhabitants. Mortals could be complicated, after all. And he could sense them, all of them of varying energies and powers. None near as strong as his, of course. Unless one were to count his run-in with Loki the other day. That was a refreshing reunion indeed, one that made Fenrir crack a grin as he strolled the streets. Speaking of streets...this was a new area of town; one he'd never been to before. That of course, warranted more exploring. Although at some point he needed to make a note to do something besides wandering streets and trying food, and attempting to master coffee. That last one...that last one was rather tricky. Coffee, he would have to tame first, he decided. So, his green eyes scanned the area as he walked, until he finally saw what looked like a cozy little coffee shop. Walking inside, he sensed a familiar energy. It wasn't strong, but it had a familiar...chaotic element to it. He didn't know why, but the god of destruction was drawn to that sort of thing, for some reason. Walking by the woman, he passed a quick glance before making his way to the counter, ordering a variety half-dozen of donuts and a cup of coffee. Feeling adventurous, he decided to try a chocolate, minty type of flavor. Should be interesting. Grabbing his order, he walked to the table in the back corner and sat across from the intriguing young woman he'd noticed on his way in. " Care if I join you?" he asked. Mortals seemed to appreciate manners, he'd noticed. So, he put his best polite face on and went for it. Evanthe Corvin

Coffee and relaxation were two of the things on her list and she was content to enjoy them here, in this warm little shop. What she hadn’t expected was to be approached not ten minutes in with a rather polite request to join her. A quick glance around the café told her there were plenty open seats and empty tables, so she assumed he was asking to sit with her out of some sort of interest. She didn’t bother suppressing her sigh, setting her cup down on the table. How annoying. It wasn’t likely that he was going to be of any use to her. He didn’t look enough like a Londoner to have any idea about what went on beneath the city’s surface.
However, she wasn’t about to ruin a perfectly good afternoon by being rude and spoiling her pleasurable mood. Instead of leaving him hanging, she nodded once. “I don’t mind. Much.” Okay, so she couldn’t resist at least implying that she had planned to be alone. At least she didn’t hiss it at him. She softened the slight insult with an even slighter smile, gesturing to the chair. “Go ahead. I don’t normally bite.” That was entirely false, but he didn’t need to know that.
“I have to admit, I am curious,” she started, picking up her coffee again and gentle swirling the contents in the cup. “Why this table and not an empty one?” She supposed it wasn’t too out of the ordinary for a person to seek out the company of another person – it happened quite often back home – but she hadn’t experienced it much in her time here. Perhaps her determination to achieve her goal kept people away and now that she was finished she was less uninviting. Who knew? Maybe this one would turn out to be useful for her. It was doubtful that he’d be any help, but it was worth thinking about.

Fenrir noticed the sigh, and her tone. It really didn't bother him, but he did somewhat tread with caution from here, just in case she was edgy. No need to provoke any mortals into challenging him, after all. Fenrir knew that would not be pretty. In truth, it'd be quite the shame. When she said she didn't normally bite, he gave a genuine chuckle. " I do not bite often either," he said with a wink. Not that she'd have any idea that the last time he bit someone...well...the last person he bit was now short one hand. But thinking on that too much made the wolf boil with anger, and he didn't want that. " I find," he began, " that sitting by myself is nowhere near as intriguing as sitting with someone. I only came to this area a week ago, and I do not know anyone, so...I make a point to change that," he explained, taking a bite from one of his half-dozen donuts, and looking at the coffee. He vowed he would not get burned this time... Setting his pastry down, he picked up the cup, blowing on the coffee before taking a slow sip. Now THAT...was amazing. Chocolate...mint...coffee...hot but not scalding...amazing. " That, and you seemed like an interesting person," he added after the coffee-pause. " I just decided why not? What have I to lose, after all?" He gave a small shrug, coupled with a slight grin as he took another, this time larger sip of coffee. He found himself relaxing considerably, despite the almost-tense situation his random...friendliness had brought on. It wasn't that he meant to, that was just how it happened; being imprisoned for as long as he had tended to make one socially awkward. And what better way to get over that, than making himself available? Evanthe Corvin

His comment earned a smirk from her and she shook her head. “Please, by all means, take a seat.” There was no missing the sarcastic words to her tone, emphasised by the fact that he was already sitting, having asked about it after the fact. Not that she minded that very much, considering the fact that he wasn’t some overly chipper, annoying teen or a sloppy, horny man looking for a lay. Well, hopefully. If he didn’t have information she wanted nothing to do with that.
“Sure, it’s not intriguing to sit alone but at least you can relax.” Was it casual conversation or another subtle dig? Ah, what did it matter? Not very much, and she wasn’t about to let this little obstacle ruin her perfectly lovely afternoon. She could always go make a fire or boil a pool’s water later if she needed to let off some steam. Actually, she might do that just for fun if she could find a place to do it without being noticed. Hell, even if she was noticed she could get herself out of it if needed, one way or another. She didn’t have any plans that involved getting in trouble with the police.
Evanthe sipped her own coffee and set it back down with a chuckle. So she was right: he was a tourist. “I won’t be much help then, if you’re staying long-term. I’m out of here in a week or so…” She trailed off, watching him with no small amount of amusement as he went about oh-so-carefully taking a sip of his coffee. It stuck her as hilarious that he was so cautious with it. Bet he’s been burned, she thought to herself wryly. She’d learned a long time ago how to not experience that herself but some people weren’t as blessed as she was.
“Oh, I’m incredibly interesting,” she replied with a shrug. “But who cares about that when you haven’t even introduced yourself? How rude of you.”

This mortal, Fenrir noticed, was different than the rest of those he'd taken time to socialize with. She had this sort of...attitude about her. And yet, her sarcasm intrigued him that much more, even if it made him wonder if she would still have this attitude of she knew what he was capable of. Knowing mortals...maybe. He gave a dry chuckle. " I have had all the alone time I could stand," he replied, his eyes flashing with a hint of pained anger.[/color]" The memory that haunted him was one that would likely not soon go away. Maybe when he was done here he'd quell that memory with a nice explosion or something; that was always fun. " As far as relaxing...well my methods of relaxation and unwinding can be a bit...unorthodox, at best," he answered after a pause, finishing his coffee and one of his donuts. Fenrir gave another chuckle, looking at her. " Actually, I planned to be out of here long before now. My goal was to travel the world, only staying in each location briefly, but..." he paused with a smile, then added, " this is only my first stop and I got sidetracked already. So, my planned adventure has either been postponed or I have made it a long-term endeavor." He blushed slightly at her final comments, mentally making a note that introductions should be a priority when meeting people from now on. " Fenrir," he answered, only after the fact realizing how easily his name had rolled off of his tongue. No alias, no fake name. It just came out before he knew what he was doing. Well, the jig was definitely up now, wasn't it? Maybe the ensuing reaction wouldn't be too bad. But if it was, well, then the mere mention of his name would have caused chaos. And hey, that was pretty special, right? Of course it was... Evanthe Corvin
