Aside from home, there was one place Ambros considered his favorite place to be. After all, what could be better than a building decorated wall to wall with shelves stuffed to the brim with books? Glorious, glorious books; the fountains of knowledge. And ever since the vampires took over Paris, the library was open all night! Endless access to page after page of intrigue and information, fiction and nonfiction.
Oh, and there were computers. Not that those contraptions were even worth mentioning, but they were there for the young people. Kids were strange creatures indeed, which was why Ambros was set to never have any. EVER.
Speaking of Ambros, the old vampire was in a very good mood tonight, sitting at a table, between two piles of books. Well, they were stacks, actually. The stacks were very neat and at this moment, about the same height. What Ambros would do is, when he finished a book, he'd set it on the stack to his right, then take the book from the top of the left stack, read it, and repeat. This, was his release.
Tonight, his topic of choice was different species. It was such an interesting topic because most books on them were fiction, and the few nonfiction books that had come out recently on them didn't have too much to go by. But nonetheless, he read, and he soaked up the info like a brand new kitchen sponge.
"These species seem so...interesting. I need to examine them in person..." he said to absolutely no one. "These facts are intriguing, but they are just words. I must find for myself what is true and what is false. All rumors are false until proven otherwise," he continued, some of his words sounding like they would belong in a book of philosophers. But Ambros never wrote down anything, never took notes. He kept it all in his mind. The councilman's emotions may have been unstable, but his mind was a rock.
Suddenly, a noise made him jump, and the stack of unread books toppled over onto the floor.
He twitched. "No!" In a flash, he was on the ground, scooping the books up one at a time, dusting them off and rebuilding the stack. "I knocked them over...I'm just as bad as those I reprimand for mistreating knowledge...No. It was an accident...something scared me. But it's still inexcusable..." Finishing his stack, he jumped to his feet, an anger in his eyes as he searched the library, looking for the cause of this accident.

Guess it wouldn't hurt to learn something new. Being the social outcast that he was, he never really knew much else besides vampires and humans. He would occasionally cross paths with a being that wasn't a vampire and that never seem to end well. He wanted to know more about Pluses, he didn't understand why they would show themselves to humans and thought it was stupid of them to do such a thing.
He looked up at the library that stayed open all the time. He had never really been in a library before, what he knew was from experience and never really took much time to learn new things from a book. Don't get him wrong, he was ignorant, he liked to read but he liked reading stories and that wasn't very educational. He casually walked up the steps, opening the door and closed it behind him.
He found the main area, shelf upon shelf of books lined the walls and stacks of books were neatly placed besides book cases since there was no room for them. He smelt another vampire in the library, but paid no mind to it. This was Paris, one was bound to run into a vampire and as long as the vampire didn't bother him then he would leave one be.
He started looking through all the books that either began with the letter P or just had the word Pluses in it. He looked them up on a library catalog search, pulling the information up and started looking through some books. Without really looking, he knocked over a chair that was on the table. It crashed to the floor with a loud bang and heard a stack of books fall, which wasn't his doing and guess he must have startled the other vampire that was in the library.
He heard the other vampire who wasn't happy with the noise and the chain reaction it caused. He looked from behind the stack of books that were being neatly stacked and picked one up, placing it on top of the pile. Sorry I knocked over a chair. He said, holding a couple of books that he had been looking for. He noticed that it was someone from the council, he wasn't sure how this would play out.

Once he was able to focus, he instantly realized another vampire was in his presence. Shame, really. The albino had hoped it would have been an outsider he could have studied. After all the absolute best way to learn is experience itself. But that usually required looking, which required actually going out regularly. But...it seemed as though these interesting specimen wouldn't be falling into his lap at random any time soon. Oh well. Maybe it would be of good use to at least entertain the company he had, yes?
After a pause, Ambros focused on the other vampire after he'd finished speaking. Apology was a good sign; at least, that's what he was taught when he was younger. But this other vampire did treat a fallen book with the respect it deserved. Closer inspection revealed that this was a fellow councilman, not that Ambros was buddy-buddy with any of them, but he did at least recognize his peers.
"Ah yes, chairs. Only useful for sitting, not even that if they are as uncomfortable as these solid wooden abominations that adorn this library. Dreadful noisy when they fall over, too..." he grumbled, his German accent quite apparent as he spoke, even though he himself was considerably older than the nation of Germany as we know it. But hey, it was a culture long before it was considered an actual nation; something the seven-hundred year old vampire was thankful to have seen first-hand: the growing of nations.
"Since it was an accident, you are forgiven," he said, taking a deep breath. Luckily, today was one of his better days. "So, what, may I ask, brings you here? Usually I am the only one who even gives this place a passing chance. Shame really." To Ambros, the library was like a sanctuary. A home away from home.
Looking to the back of the book he was reading, he pulled out the card that hadn't been used in ages. Formally, it told everyone who had checked out the book, before library cards and computers. But now...well, it still had its uses. For Ambros, that use was marking the page he'd been reading before setting it on the table. "Werewolves and Other Lore was the title of the book.
Usually, the vampire would have been furious that his reading had been interrupted, but not this time. Besides, he had a feeling that particular read was full of poppycock anyway.

He said nothing, his face was very indifferent and only watched the other councilman for a moment before.looking around at all the other books that he seemed to be reading. He glanced back over to the chair that he had knocked over. There was nobody in the library but the two vampires at the moment.
He held up the two books he was going to be reading. Trying to understand pluses and their ways. He replied, shifting shyly at his feet. He looked at the book the other vampire had, cocking an eyebrow at the title. Werewolves? He hadnt come across a werewolf yet, he tried keeping tp himself when it came to traveling.
He sat down at the table, opening one of the books he had picked out. Why are you in here? He asked, trying to make some small talk. He had watched humans do this, guess the same applied to vampires. He had seen the.fellow council men around but never really socialized with him or any of them. He might have said a few things to Lady Charlotte but that was about it.
He started looking through the pages, blue eyes intensely focused on the material that was infront of him. It didnt exactly tell him what he wanted to know, but it gave him some insight on who the pluses were. He could listen to rumors all day long but he fely that by figuring things out himself would be better than him listening to people. Why would someone reveal themselves to humans? Humans were fragile minded, what they don't understand creates fear and most of them dont even want to understand something or someone different . A sigh escaped his lips, he closed the book and opened the other one, this book just gave useless facts but it did give interesting testimony from people who've apparently seen pluses and what they can do.

Ambros studied the face of the other vampire; his expressions and body language. There was just as much to learn from others as there was from books. Even moreso, maybe. Books could lie, but one's body language gave them away every time.
A wide smile crossed the albino's lips when asked why he was there, and soon a chuckle escaped his throat. "My boy I spend more time here than I do at home. There is...peace and safety within these walls. An infinite treasure of knowledge, buried within bindings of pages. I cannot stay away." He gave a small shrug, sitting in his chair as he began to relax.
"Pluses," he repeated. "Interesting creatures, they are. Their appearance and mannerisms are human, as is their intellect. But there is something...more to them. This leads them to believe they are better than ordinary humans, hence the term 'Plus.' But, the interesting thing is, aside from a few who may be different...they are still...mortal. Human. Still driven by the urge to fear what they do not understand and to destroy what they fear." He took a breath, thinking. "Mind you, these are all implications, and I have yet to prove any of these. Although, I hear tell that a Plus's blood is sweeter than the average human..." He gave a smile at this, brushing his long white hair from his face.
"So much diversity in this world today, and so much division because of it. This, my boy, I have seen all my days, and trust me lad, I've seen my share of days. But what I would like to understand...is what the Pluses really hoped to achieve by making themselves known. Granted, the consequential hostility led our kind to our own rise to power, but...it does not make much sense to me. Maybe it was their human pride." He scratched his chin, his grey eyes staring into space, deep in thought. on this.

Guess he could agree with the reason to be here besides somewhere else. He did like to learn new things and a newly vampire trait of curiosity had been passed onto him. Yeah, guess I can see that....I like being here its quiet and not alot of people. He said and looked back to his book after reading a couple of sentences.
He listened to the other vampire speak, he was a very good listener and doer, not much of a speaker though and let other people do the speaking and he would just sit back and take things in as they were and went along with whatever the council had come up with. He had wondered if he feared anything that he didn't understand while human...no the only thing that he feared was his mother and what would happen to her but that seemed to have...gone away like when he was turned, any sense of humanity he had was gone. True, since he had become a immortal, he no longer worried about things like he had used to.
Pride.... He said in a rather distasteful tone and closed the book. Being prideful is just stupid, causes nothing but trouble. He added with a shake of his head.
