~~~~~~~~~~ After scouting the city for a time and getting himself a new shirt, it hadn't been very difficult for Tamiel to find the Hotel Palomar at all. He'd dropped out of the night sky into an alley not too far away--and, he reminded himself, he needed to be careful with murderers around like he'd just encountered. It had been less than an hour since his encounter with Azrael and Winter, but the idea was still enough to set him on edge.
After turning himself back into his humanoid form and checking his phone to make sure he'd found the right place, he'd asked for Cardwell and been given her room number, finding the room with relative ease. He wasn't sure whether she was already back to her room or not, but he figured it'd be worth a shot to knock and then wait to see. If she wasn't, well, he could wait outside for a little bit before he started to look suspicious. If she wasn't there, he'd text and ask her to let him know when she was in. It wasn't too hard, he didn't think. Tamiel toyed with the idea of ordering the pizza now, but then dismissed it as he realized he had no idea what Winter would want on it.
So, instead, he knocked. "Er. Hello?" he offered up to the door, though he really only half expected someone to be inside. "It's..." He paused, wondering what he could say without giving himself away to anyone that might be eavesdropping on him. Call it paranoia, but it had served him well when things had gone south multiple times before in hotels much like this one. "It's your uncle."
Technically true, wouldn't arouse too much suspicion (he hoped), and it would be fairly obvious... well, he thought it would be, anyway. There was always potential for things to go wrong without him realizing just how wrong they could go.
He hoped this wouldn't be like that. He just wanted to sit down and have some pizza and maybe ask a few questions and share a few ideas.
Her walk with Azrael back to the building that housed his apartment hadn't actually taken that long. Her own walk back to the Hotel Palomar had certainly felt long for some reason, though. "Maybe 's just a come down from all that adrenaline earlier." Now that she'd actually given her own words some thought, it made sense. She still felt somewhat shaky from the whole thing, even with the conversation she'd had with Azrael If she hadn't had been such a chatty, truthful Nephilim there had been the high chance that both she and Tamiel would have met their ends not that far from where that Plus had met his. Sighing heavily to herself she sent up a quiet murmur of thanks and hastened her steps to get back inside the hotel. Now that she was really thinking about it, she wanted nothing more than to get out of her damp, slightly bloodstained clothes and relax. Barely giving the check in desk a second glance she hurried up to her room, taking two tries to get her confounded room key to work. Once she was finally inside she checked her phone to see if Tamiel had written her since they'd parted ways. Seeing that the last thing sent was her telling him to ask for her in the lobby, she took it as a sign that she had long enough to take a quick shower. It took a goodly amount of self-control to keep from dawdling under the stream of hot water until it ran cold. Instead she reluctantly shut off the shower and dried off, hurrying to get dressed when she heard the knock at the door and Tamiel's almost hesitant words a second later. Making sure her last button was fastened she pushed her still damp hair away from her eyes and flung open the door. It didn't take a rocket scientist to guess why he had announced himself the way he had. "Uncle Tamiel, hey! 'M glad that you could make it." Without much fanfare (but a whole lot of grinning) Winter stepped aside so he could come in. Words: 352 Tags: TamielOutfit: Clicky! Mood: Slightly drained but happy.
~~~~~~~~~~ Tamiel met Winter with a smile, nodding briefly as he stepped inside. "To be honest, I am as well." He stood still for a little while waiting for her to close the door, then reached toward his pocket. "Would you like me to pay for the pizza, or would you rather split? I'm fine either way. It'd also probably be a good idea to know what you like on it." His smile came easier than it had in quite a while, even with the slight pseudo-magnetic repulsion he had from the Nephilim. All things considered, he was feeling pretty good.
"I've also got a few other things I'd like to discuss with you," he said as his fingertips brushed his phone. "Tonight was... well, not outstanding. If he'd been an angel--a full one--he would have killed both of us straight out the gate. That's something I'm trying to prevent. So... I don't know how much exposure you have to angels of the non-fallen variety, but I intend to teach you about them if you haven't had much experience. Not now, of course, but at a later point in time. For your safety."
He wondered if maybe he should do this for other Nephilim he came across. If, perhaps, he should bring together a group of Nephilim and teach them together how to defend themselves from the angels.
"What do you think about me doing that for you, and possibly for an as of yet unspecified number of others? I'd be very happy to, and... to be frank, as a race, the Nephilim need all the help they can get, with both angels and some demons trying to act against them. There is a war on, after all, and I'd rather you and as many others as possible be safe while all of this boils over."

Winter made sure to lock her door before she perched herself at the edge of her bed, gesturing to the nearby chair for Tamiel if he wanted to make himself more comfortable. "Splittin' it would work just fine for me. 'M not opposed to that at all. As for toppins?" She grinned again, "Can't go wrong with lotsa cheese in my mind." Seeing how relaxed he was after everything that had happened earlier was encouraging. It definitely helped her relax even more. When he mentioned having other things that he wanted to discuss with her, she felt her eyebrows furrow and tilted her head slightly even as she let out a little laugh. "It definitely wasn't somethin' that I'd write home about, that's for sure. Well--I mean I would but not in an overly excited way." Stopping herself there she cleared her throat and maneuvered herself back to the topic at hand. "Other than my immediate family I don't really have any experience at all. Not outside of somehow bein' lucky enough that 'm not dead yet, at least."She lapsed into silence as she thought about his proposal. It would make sense. And she knew that if she lacked information and experience that there were probably others out there who did as well. It would be nice to find others like her too. "That actually sounds like a good idea. Someone knows that I need all the help I can get an' so would other Nephilim too." Her lips twitched up into a small smile even as her stomach let out a loud growl. "So what...Would it be like a Nephilim version of the X-Men? Tamiel's School for Gifted Abominations?" Realizing how that must have sounded she sighed heavily. "'M sorry. That...was rude of me to say it like that." Words: 303 Tags: TamielOutfit: Cupcake PJ's Mood: Curious and hungry

~~~~~~~~~~ Tamiel nodded. "Extra cheese is fine. I quite like cheese pizza myself. I'd like to discuss all this more in just a second, but let me order first."
The fallen angel ordered the pizza, then stuck his phone in his pocket and looked back to Winter. "Right. Now that that's done... This is exactly why I'm bringing this up. Many just like you don't have any experience--in fact, the only one I know of that does is my niece. Well, my other niece. I'm acquainted with her parent, and I helped her to get where she is, but I know that she's not the only one that needs my help. That's why I'm trying to put this together."
With a chuckle, Tamiel nodded. "Well, yes, a bit. I wouldn't be going by Tamiel--it's too obviously angelic and I'm too well-known by that with angels. I've got another name that they don't know as well, and I think I'd be using that instead so we can remain incognito. After all, it's best that no one knows where we are, otherwise they can find us and that can end quite badly." He pondered it for a bit, then spoke again. "And I certainly don't believe you're abominations, but we do need to not outright state "Nephilim" if we're trying to avoid attention. So the name would probably be closer to "Kasdeja's Institute for Gifted Avians," since we're playing on the whole X-Men thing."
He stopped talking for a while, then let out a barking laugh. "When discussing it around others, we can call it "Bird School for Birds." That'd be impossible to decipher, since it's a meme and all, and that's exactly the sort of thing we're looking for. Anyway. Thoughts? Comments? Questions? Smart remarks? Oh, no, I'm already going into professor mode." He chuckled, shaking his head as he waited for Winter to respond.
