FULL NAME:: Daniel Kumonosu
NICKNAMES:: Danny
GENDER:: Male
ACTUAL AGE:: Twenty-nine
APPARENT AGE:: About eighteen/nineteen.
SPECIES/RACE:: Were-Spider
PREFERRED PRONOUNS:: He/Him
SEXUAL ORIENTATION:: Bisexual
FACECLAIM:: Miura Haruma
NATIONALITY:: Japanese-American
HEIGHT:: 5"3
HAIR:: Black
EYES:: Dark Brown
SKIN:: Fair
DISTINGUISHING MARKS:: He has a bar code tattoo on his inner wrist. When scanned, the code is registered as a 5lb bag of Trolli Neon Gummi Worms.
APPEARANCE::
Daniel's a short fellow, with a considerably 'petite' gait compared to the rest of his family and friends. His boyish features and small stature leads people to believe he is younger than he is actually is, though that's also probably due to his species' longevity. When his straight black hair is neat, some people even mistake him for his mid-teens.
Despite his smallness, Daniel possesses a strange aura of intimidation about him. His dark eyes seem cold, leering, and calculating at all times, and his body language and erect posture are that of someone who is overtly alert.
His animal form is that of a very large spider, more specifically what looks to be a golden orb-weaver that’s the size of a horse. Literally the stuff of nightmares.
His half-animal form, which he finds himself the most comfortable in, is centaur-like— from the waist up, he has a humanoid appearance, but the rest of his body a large spider torso and legs. His lower chest, lower arms, collarbone, and spine is covered by a hard, chitin exoskeleton that is broken up into sections to allow better movement. His eyes take on a yellowish hue with an oblong pupil, and beside his jawline are two “fangs”, that grab food and bring it to the mouth in a horizontal pinching fashion.
PERSONALITY:: Daniel, being a born were-spider, carries over many natural spider-like habits into his personality. His seemingly cold, solitary personality is common for his species. However, unlike most solitary Weres, he is not territorial or aggressive by nature, and is fairly easy to get along with. He can come off as a bit of an asshole though, because of his dry humor and constant sarcasm.
His cold exterior hides the fact he’s a very anxious individual. His nervousness causes him to be a bit quirky, and some of his behaviors may seem random and inappropriate (such as becoming irritated or jerking away from unseen stimuli and laughing at inappropriate times).
Whether or not he is a ‘nice’ person is debatable. He has moments of kindness, but can just as easily be manipulative to get what he wants. Daniel has even eaten some of his ‘friends’ in the past, though to be honest he doesn't really draw a line between friends and potential food. He puts himself and his own safety before others, and will do whatever it takes to survive—be it nice acts or cruel choices. Self-preservation is both instinctive, and a driving force for most of his actions.

HISTORY::
Daniel was born weak and fragile, the one and only son of Chiyo Kumonosu, a young were-spider who hid herself in the forests. His father, a young fisherman who had wandered in the forest one day, who was subsequently mated with and then eaten.
He was a docile, loving child. Daniel lived in the forest humbly, cared for and cherished by his mother. He grew to know the gentleness and compassion of a mother’s love. And Chiyo tried her best to protect her child from the dangerous, cruel world he was born into. Unfortunately, as Daniel grew, the forest’s land and resources dwindled due to deforestation and urbanization. The small family receded further and further into the forest, but with less and less game coming through, they began to starve.
It wasn’t until he was thirteen that Chiyo began to educate her son on what little she knew of the outside world. She taught him self-defense in his human form, she told him how to blend in, how humans reacted to that which was different. Most importantly, she told him to survive. To do whatever it takes so that he may live.
She had grown weak, as she gave all of her food to him so that he would grow strong, and in trying to care for her child she had doomed herself. The self-preservation of spider mothers are no match for their need to have their offspring survive, and were-spiders were no exception. She used the last of her golden-tinted silk to spin him some fine clothes that would help him blend in with the human world.
She starved to death on a midsummer night, and it was that same night that Daniel finally came of age, and had his First Change. It was hell to endure, especially with no one there to comfort him, but he clung to the silk clothes his mother wove for him, and managed to bear the pain.
Arising in his animal form, Daniel followed his mother’s last wishes, and like many spider children do, he consumed his mother for energy. He then shifted back into a human, put on his new clothes, and went off to join the rest of the world.
OOC NAME:: Arachne
ROLEPLAYING EXPERIENCE:: I haven’t roleplayed in quite some time, but I did a lot when I was 13-15, and I've always had fond memories of the people I've met and the characters I made.
ANY NOTES:: I like drawing. I actually already have drawings of this character OTL.
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE::
"I'm sorry."
The man whispered this single sentence over and over. His eyes were clenched shut, his face soaked with a mix of tears and sweat. He raised his head heavenward, and spoke with a feeble, cracked voice. Desperation was written plain on his face.
"I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorr--"
"Shut up, please."
The man clenched his teeth together to keep himself from sobbing. His tormentor hovered above him, all legs and angles. Each leg clung to the web that the man was entangled in, and yet the monster itself was able to maneuver easily on the mess of silk it called 'home'.
"Listen, man, you eat cows and pigs and stuff all the time. You ever feel remorse when you eat a cheeseburger? When you eat a McDonald's egg and sausage breakfast in the morning?" The creature paused and looked down at the man, giving him a doubtful glance. His victim merely clenched his eyes shut. "Yeah, I didn't think so."
The creature leaned into the hollow of the man's neck, content with his work in making sure the man was secured to his web. The older man's breathing grew into a hard pant, but he did not speak, nor cry, nor bargain. He seemed to accept his fate.
"It's not personal, I promise. You were probably a really cool guy. Maybe. Not really." He paused, then sank his pincer-like fangs into his meal's neck. The man jostled wildly as the paralyzing poison pulsed through his veins. "But we all need to eat. I need to eat. It's the survival of the fittest out here, ya know?" The man's eyes rolled back into his head as foam dripped from his mouth. Choking sounds emitted from his throat.
Daniel's eyes grew bright in the darkness, reflecting the full moon that gleamed through the canopy. He unhinged his jaw as he lowered himself to the man's abdomen.
"And I'm here to survive."
