{ ANGELS } |
Angels are winged beings created by the Abrahamic god before the dawn of man, meant to act as His servants and soldiers. Over time, as the Abrahamic god retreated from any and all contact, angels have become more and more human, even if they would prefer it wasn't that way.
Angels are soldiers, servants, and voices for the Abrahamic god. They do everything he asks of them without questioning it, unless they want to fall. But the Abrahamic god has been... distant, lately, for lack of a better word. Angels now mostly follow orders from other angels higher up in the hierarchy because of that. Angels started off as purely emotionless beings, but as time went on, they grew the ability to truly feel. This was partially what caused Lucifer's uprising, and what is the main cause of angels leaving the ranks of heaven today. It's hard to have emotions and not have opinions, after all. Angels have no assigned gender and choose to present however masculine, feminine, or androgynous as they like without worry of reprimand. Their true forms and faces are so alien that humans will go crazy if they ever see them.
KNIGHTS: A group of archangels who embody certain heavenly virtues tasked with keeping the demonic Keys from ever opening Hell. They are Benevolence, the knight of humility and charity; Justice, the knight of temperance and kindness; Honesty, the knight of chastity and patience; and Diligence, the knight of persistence. They are canon characters and can be found here. SERAPHIM: The very highest order of angels, they are the only ones who have ever been face to face with God. The angel Metatron, god's voice, is one of them. Seraphim prefer heaven to earth, and have never had any fallen. They mostly only walk amongst humans if they have a very special job they have to do, and this is rare. Seraphim are not really a "ruling" class, though they may relay orders; they are just the servants closest to God. After God began to withdraw, many seraphim became distressed, and now are not quite sure what to do with themselves. Seraphim have three sets of wings. ARCHANGELS: The angels most often tasked with ordering lower classes and with defending humanity, especially humans who have been deemed prophets. Archangels are trained warriors and know how to wield their flaming swords. Archangels have two sets of wings. MALAKHIM: Also known as, very simply, "angels". This is the most common rank, filled with soldiers, messengers, guardians, and the like. They are also the most human-like group, and the most likely to leave heaven's ranks. They spend most of their time on earth amongst humans, and some have grown to love them deeply because of it. Malakhim only have one set of wings. NEPHILIM: Sometimes, when an angel or a fallen angel has relations with a human, offspring result from it. Nephilim are weaker than angels, but much stronger than humans, and have very vivid, deep emotions. They are incredibly unpredictable because of this. Because of the danger they pose to humanity and because of their status as an "abomination", loyal angels have been ordered to kill nephilim on sight. The angels who helped bring them into being, however, are incredibly protective of them, and will often fall to keep their children safe. Nephilim have weakened telepathy; they can read hearts, but not minds, and they cannot connect to the larger "angel radio". They cannot become invisible and they have no sword to use, but they are still "holy" enough to be able to push demons and spirits away and to heal minor wounds and sicknesses. Sigils make them uncomfortable but will not banish them. Whether or not they have wings is a case by case thing. FALLEN: Angels who have left the service of heaven to pursue their own lives and goals. They are one step away from becoming demons. Fallen angels have considerably weakened powers and, like nephilim, cannot connect to "angel radio". Fallen angels lose all powers of holiness, but may keep their swords if they can keep anyone from taking them. Fallen angels lose their wings; they completely burn away. |
