{ DEITIES } |
Deities, from the European pagan to the Hindu to the Native American to the Abrahamic, have existed for as long as religion has, or even longer. They have both helped and harmed the people who choose to follow them, but that has not made their followers love them any less. Though non-Abrahamic faiths are beginning to dwindle in the western world, worshipers of those pantheons still exist. To play a deity, please consult with an admin. The deity MUST be canon within some mythology or otherwise canon on this site, should we decide to create some for a site-wide plot; you cannot make deities up to play on your own. The Abrahamic god is the only one not up for grabs, as he is all powerful and that would not be fair. Please be respectful even to non-Abrahamic deities, as there are worshipers of them even on this site (Toe Knee worships the Norse pantheon, for example, and Octocat the Greek).
It is said that deities created man. Some neopagans choose to argue that the opposite is true, and man created deities through sheer force of thought. Not even gods really know the answer to this; they've lived since the dawn of time, and even the divine forget their beginnings. However it all began, man came to worship them, each in their own way. Deities in regions close to one another formed pantheons, and all were honored by the people they presided over. The advent of Christianity, and then Islam, shrunk so many faiths so drastically, wiping them out completely in some cases. But as modern times came forth and people would no longer be slaughtered for worshiping someone who was not Yahweh, followers returned, though the groups were so much smaller than before.
