FULL NAME:: Kazara Lynn Sellars
NICKNAMES:: Kaz, Kazzie, Zara, Sellars, Lynn Summers (alias)
GENDER:: female
ACTUAL AGE:: 28
APPARENT AGE:: Twenties
SPECIES/RACE:: Plus
PREFERRED PRONOUNS:: She/Her/Hers
SEXUAL ORIENTATION:: Pansexual
FACECLAIM:: Emilie de Ravin
NATIONALITY:: British
HEIGHT:: 5’1”
HAIR:: Blonde (usually! Sometimes she dyes it brown.)
EYES:: Blue, Green-blue, Blue-grey
SKIN:: White
DISTINGUISHING MARKS:: She has a few scars on her body but none of them are in places that can usually be seen when she wears clothing: her stepfather was careful about where he hurt her. She has a 1-inch star branded above her left breast.
APPEARANCE::
Kazara is considerably short, but she’s fit. And despite her shortness, she’s not a fan of heels. She has a very changeable face, going from cute to ice queen in a matter of seconds. She’s not the kind of cute person that people laugh at when she gets angry. When she’s mad there’s nothing on her face to suggest that soft cuteness you might’ve seen before. She generally walks like she’s got somewhere to be. She doesn’t move slowly unless she has to.
Kazara loves jeans. Jeans, shorts, and leather pants are her favourite things to wear on her legs. If she’s wearing a dress or skirt you can assume it’s for one of the following reasons: she’s being flirty, she’s playing a role, the venue or even requires it, or somehow all of her other clothes burned in a fire. She tends to wear sunglasses on bright days in the summer. Her shoes of choice are boots or flats with metal tips. Kaz is against wearing necklaces, as she finds them a safety hazard. Rings, however, are her accessory of choice. She wears rings all the time and every single one of them was chosen for its ability to hurt someone if she needs it to.
PERSONALITY::
Kazara is stubborn and strong. She is incredibly honest, sometimes too much so. Her power of perception and ability to deduce are sometimes very confusing for her. When she’s in large crowds or even just with a few too many people thinking too many things, it’s easy for her to get overloaded. If it’s a small overload it usually just makes her grumpy and uncomfortable, putting her on edge and making her especially blunt. If it’s anything worse it leads to headaches and, at worst, debilitating physical pain.
She doesn’t always get along with adults, whether because of her bluntness or because she prefers to be alone. However, she adores children. A little one drops their bottle/toy on the ground? Kaz will be right there to pick it up and return it. A mother is struggling with a screaming infant? Kaz will offer assistance. Anything to do with children gets Kazara’s full attention. They are, perhaps, the only creatures she loves without even knowing them. She doesn’t have one of her own but she wishes to be a mother someday.
Though she prefers to be alone, Kaz is a kind person at heart. She won’t brush off a friendly hello or duck out of a polite conversation. Civil interactions are something she’s good at, whether she’s being herself or wearing a mask. Unwanted advances are replied to with ice, fire, and ring-laden punches. She’s not afraid to get her hands dirty and she’s gotten good at fighting people off.
She has a certain fondness for broken or helpless people, as she can empathise with them.

PROFESSION:: Private researcher
PARENTS:: (biological) Nikolai Fews and Lona Carrigan, (adoptive) Markus and Eliah Sellars
SIBLINGS:: Silas and Isabella, by her adoptive parents.
CHILDREN:: None.
EXTENDED FAMILY:: One aunt on her father’s side, Arina Jakobs (and her husband, Hans. And their twins: Myla and Michel)
MARITAL STATUS:: Single.
HISTORY::
Kazara was born to Nikolai and Lona, two young adults who were not prepared to raise a child together. Shortly after her birth, her mother ran. The little girl lived with her father until she was four, when she was taken from him based on lies about him being a violent, alcoholic man. They thought he abused her and they placed her with a set of foster parents who adopted her within her first six months of being there.
For the first few months Kazara’s adoptive father was as kind as his wife. But as time passed, he revealed his true self. He was a monster, beating his wife and abusing Kazara, not yet five years old. He would lock her in closets and cupboards for hours, leave her without food or fresh water for hours, nearly days. As she aged the ‘punishments’ grew worse: he would fill the bathtub and hold her head under until she stopped struggling, he would beat her the way he beat his wife.
She was seven when the first of her siblings, Silas. A year later, Isabella was born. Even as her adoptive father’s biological children they didn’t escape his rage. Even as infants he was cruel to them. She spent hours with the children, holding them, loving them, showing them the kindness she saw in the world outside. She cared for them more than she ever cared for anything and their suffering made her decision easy: she had to leave, get out from under her adoptive father’s thumb. She had to save them.
When she was sixteen, growing into a beautiful young woman, he stripped her naked and forced her to the ground with her clawing, kicking, and biting at him. He pulled a poker from the embers of the fire where he’d placed it earlier: a poker he’d made himself, its end formed into a star. He pressed it into the tender skin above her left breast, but even when she screamed her adoptive mother wouldn’t step in. The man would’ve gone further if Kaz’s desperate attempt to distract and confuse him hadn’t worked: this was the first time she was able to project an illusion correctly. She scared him into backing away, into staying away from her long enough for her to bolt out of the room.
After her brother Silas’ death when she was 17, Kaz did everything she could do make little Isabella’s life easier, even if it meant more pain for herself. If it wasn’t for the children she would’ve run years before, and now that there was just one she contemplated bringing her along. She planned their escape for months, but was delayed when the little girl fell ill. Despite her best efforts, Isabella died – her father’s refusal to bring her to a hospital resulted in infection spreading.
With nothing left to keep her there, Kazara escaped. Now that she was on her own, Kaz made a sort of life for herself. But she was always running. She never stayed anywhere long, as her adoptive father always found her. Suddenly he stopped showing up but she still ran for a few more years, moving more out of caution and fear than being followed. In October 2012 she found herself back in London. It was then (after years of looking) that she found her father and his sister, an aunt she never knew she had. She grew close to her aunt and her children and often visited. She was much more distant from her father, remembering what was done to her though it wasn’t by his hand.
She ran a few times from London but was never gone long, mostly doing business for the friends that helped her out after she escaped (Kirk and Elva Tadghan), funding her and often providing her with safe houses in exchange for research she did for them on the side.
In 2014 Kaz came back to London, to her friends, and decided to stay. Her adoptive father was done having a hold on her. She wasn’t going to let him run her life, keep her lonely. She was done avoiding people. She was going to have a life.
