FULL NAME:: Thor Odinson
NICKNAMES:: Son of Odin, The Thunderer, Bjorn, Hallower, Husband of Sif, Father of Thrud, Modi, and Magni. Prefers Donar Gewitter on Midgard.
GENDER:: Male
ACTUAL AGE:: Ageless
APPARENT AGE:: Mid to late twenties
SPECIES/RACE:: Deity (Aesir)
PREFERRED PRONOUNS:: he/him/his
SEXUAL ORIENTATION:: Bicurious
FACECLAIM:: Kenny Brain
NATIONALITY:: Scandinavian
HEIGHT:: 6'5"
HAIR:: Red/auburn
EYES:: Storm grey
SKIN:: Lightly tanned
DISTINGUISHING MARKS:: Thor has a tattoo of Yggdrasil on his left arm. Most people assume it's just a tree.
APPEARANCE:: Ever since he was old enough to grow a beard, Thor has had full facial hair covering his chin and upper lip. His hairstyle tends to be unpredictable, as he's had it longer in the past, but for the moment he seems to favor it short and shaved on the sides. His eyes are the grey of dark clouds passing overhead, and when he gets angry, they can flash with lightning. His skin is toned, his body tall and muscular. He's built like a brick.
Though in older times, Thor tended to prefer armor, in the modern day he has a particular affinity for hooded sweatshirts. The pockets are perfect for holding phones and other things he needs to hold, and he only picks the ones with the fuzziest insides. He prefers dark jeans, and wears a belt with a silver, intricate buckle. This is Megingjord, his infamous strength-doubling accessory. In addition, he wears two silver cuffs on his wrists, which are Jarngreipr, his gauntlets. Both of these have been placed under illusions to appear normal in society, but still carry all of their powers and allow him to wield Mjolnir, which often hangs on a loop from his belt or in a bag of some sort.
PERSONALITY:: Thor is absolutely enthralled by the technological advancements of the past few centuries and is excited to see what humanity has done with electricity. As a result, he's on basically every social network imaginable and likes to stay up-to-date on phones. It took him a little bit to get the hang of the whole "manual dexterity" thing with such big hands, but he's got it down pretty well and can text at lightning speeds (if you'll excuse the pun). He's also been known to marathon Top Gear.
He's not the brightest, though, or the most wise. Thor is very naive and believes the best in everyone, and is easily deceived. He has a violent temper, though he's also quick to forgive should the situation call for it. Thor is a bit mercurial and can change emotions quickly, though he's usually full of energy and on the higher end of the spectrum rather than sad or depressed. That said, when he is depressed, it's absolutely pitiful and obvious.
The God of Thunder loves meeting new people and making friends, especially when it involves seeing what Midgard has to offer. He's very fond of humans, and has mixed feelings about most other races. Thor is more inclined to help a human than one of the others, though he also seems to like Pluses and witches well enough. He has no tolerance, however, for those who prey indiscriminately or cast out those of other races. He loves the humans, but doesn't believe that what they've done is right or just, and will not hesitate to let any bigots know. Thor fights for what he believes in, and will fight to the death for his friends.
He doesn't fear Ragnarok, but looks upon it with a heavy heart, knowing that he will be fighting the child of his closest friend. There is still bitterness toward Loki for causing the death of Baldr, but recently he has found himself wracked with loneliness and nostalgia.

SECRETS:: Thor misses Loki. Like, really bad. Like, go behind Asgard's back and go AWOL indefinitely just to hang out, bad. Like, might level a mountain to find him, bad. He wouldn't kill any humans--you know, with the whole Protector of Mankind thing going on--but no promises with supernatural beings if they stand between him and his old friend.
RANK:: God of Thunder, Strength, and Fertility in the Norse pantheon
POWERS::
WEAKNESSES::
HOMETOWN:: Asgard
PROFESSION:: God of Thunder, Weather, Strength, Storms, Healing, Fertility, and Protection of Mankind
PARENTS:: Jord (mother) and Odin (father)
SIBLINGS:: Baldr, Hodr, and Vidar (half-siblings)
CHILDREN:: Thrud (with Sif), Magni and Modi (with Jarnsaxa)
EXTENDED FAMILY:: Loki (pseudo-uncle)
MARITAL STATUS:: Open marriage with Sif
HISTORY:: Thor was born of the union of Odin, the Allfather, and the giantess Jord, who represented the earth. He grew quickly, and was soon the most powerful warrior in all of Asgard. He became quick friends with Loki, his father's blood-brother, and the two went on numerous adventures across the realms together, everywhere from Jotunheim to Utgard and beyond. Their bond was thought to be unbreakable.
When Thor was still relatively young, compared to most of the gods, Loki went to win a bet and returned with Mjolnir, a hammer that would return to him and smite anything he pleased. It was capable of leveling mountains, cracking the skulls of giants, and anything else he could dream of. Its only flaw was that the shaft was a bit short, but considering that his friend would have otherwise been decapitated, he made few if any complaints. It was, in Thor's mind, every bit as statuesque and valuable as his father's spear Gungnir, though he needed gauntlets and a belt to even be able to wield it.
This hammer brought the two on numerous adventures, including one instance in which it was stolen and Thor was forced to crossdress with Loki in order to get it back. Thor utilized it frequently in the killing of giants, and did so over and over. A few times, he threatened to use it on Loki after particularly bad transgressions, including the seduction of Sif and subsequent hair-shearing, but these times were far between at the beginning. Slowly, Loki grew more and more distant, and Thor grew more and more difficult to console.
Following the death of Baldr, Thor went on a hunting trip to attempt to take his mind off the death of his half-brother. When he returned home, however, he was faced in Aegir's hall with Loki's insults and wrath. With rage in his heart, he threatened his former friend with death multiple times until he fled. When Loki was caught, Thor aided in his binding, having grown bitter, and he tried his hardest not to feel remorse when they placed the serpent above his eyes. He stayed on Asgard for a time, then migrated to Midgard, then through all the realms searching for something he could not find.
Eventually, the chains holding Loki down broke, and though Thor knew that his coming would herald Ragnarok, he still resolved to find the trickster, if only to apologize and perhaps find the closure he needs. He's been wandering Midgard ever since.
OOC NAME:: Sunny
ROLEPLAYING EXPERIENCE:: Enough, I hope
ANY NOTES:: Modi's mother is actually unnamed so I just sorta. Made Magni and Modi from the same parents. Also this dude is one of my dudes. So uh.
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE::
Unrealistic as it may have been, Thor had been toying with the notion of riding down to Helheim to thank Steve Jobs for quite some time. This "iPhone" truly was a wonder all its own. He never could have imagined a tiny game where the objective is to slice the most fruit simultaneously that one could find possible. He was getting very good at it.
The bell above the door jingled, and Thor looked up from his coffee. There was always that split second when he wondered if it'd be quite that easy, to just watch the redhead saunter in the door as though he owned the place, order a mocha something or other with eighteen words that sounded much more complicated than it needed to be, and sit himself down across the table from Thor and start talking like old times.
It wasn't. It was a brunette girl with a laptop bag slung over her shoulder and three notebooks dangling from her hands. She ordered quickly, passed exact change over the counter, and took a seat near the door. Thor turned his attention back to his game.
Maybe it seemed needy, but he had felt like they'd been the best of friends. What had happened? It wasn't as though Thor had any control over what his father had done to Loki's children, over what anyone had done but himself. If Loki never forgave him for the hand he'd had in his binding, Thor would understand that. He just wanted to be able to apologize and then move on with his life. He'd hang around Midgard for a few more years, then go back to Asgard and wait for Naglfar to come sailing up on their shores and bring down the wrath of angry giants on their heads.
It sounded depressing when he thought it like that, but it wasn't as though anyone was doing much of anything except waiting for Ragnarok to come, not anymore.
The bell jingled again, and Thor looked up, like he always did.
